Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMobile Robot: SLAM Implementation for Unknown Indoor Environment ExplorationMohamed Emharraf, Mohammed Bourhaleb, Mohammed Saber, Mohammed RahmounThe autonomy is the most crucial criteria in mobile robots. This operation aims to offer the ability of finding the position and build a map of the environment to the robot. Many methods have been proposed to solve this problem. In this study, an implementation of SLAM approach for unknown indoor environment exploring by mobile robot is proposed. In fact, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 12, Issue 2 · 26 Mar 2016 · 7,301 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleGreen Environments and their Effect Upon Hospital UsersCarol A. Haigh, Gary Witham, Jessica Thompson, Hilary WoodWhilst there is significant academic and health care opinion is that green space both in and outside of institutions is both beneficial and desirable for hospital patients and workers, there is little in the literature to suggest that patients and staff recognise or identify 'good' and 'bad' natural environments. This study reports an exploration of the green environment around a … …International Journal of Research in Nursing, Vol. 5, Issue 2 · 19 Jan 2015 · 7,068 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA VISION-BASED TRAVELLED DISTANCE ESTIMATION ALGORITHM IN AN INDOOR ENVIRONMENT USING A MOBILE ROBOTMamadou Diop, Chot Hun Lim, Tien Sze Lim, Lee-Yeng OngAutonomous navigation for a mobile robot still remains as a challenging area to be explored. In an indoor environment, while GPS is unavailable and wheel encoder suffer from error accumulation due to wheel slips, vision-based travelled distance estimation can be considered as an alternative approach for more accurate measurements. This study presents a new algorithm to estimate travelled distance of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 26 Dec 2014 · 8,700 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleIMPROVING DATA AVAILABILITY IN MOBILE ENVIRONMENT USING DATA ALLOCATIONMoaiad Ahmad Khder, Zulaiha Ali Othman, Abdullah Mohd Zin, Salha AbdullahData distribution is one of the crucial issues in Data Base Management Systems (DBMS) in general and in Mobile environment in Particular. It is important because, if not properly managed, it will cause reduction in data availability, which in turn causes more rejections in transactions. Replication algorithms (e.g., CCM) are used to improve data availability. However, the database replication algorithms … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 5 Jul 2013 · 6,860 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Hybrid Method for Automatic Speech Recognition Performance Improvement in Real World Noisy EnvironmentUrmila Shrawankar, Vilas ThakareIt is a well known fact that, speech recognition systems perform well when the system is used in conditions similar to the one used to train the acoustic models. However, mismatches degrade the performance. In adverse environment, it is very difficult to predict the category of noise in advance in case of real world environmental noise and difficult to achieve … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 27 Feb 2013 · 7,754 accessesView PDFCite
