Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordDoes the Size of Personalized Menus Affect User Performance?Khalid Al-Omar, Dimitrios I. RigasProblem statement: To date, researchers have personalized graphical user interfaces for individual users to reduce visual search time. Little research, however, has been directed at understanding the factors which cause approaches to personalization to have positive effects at one time and negative ones at others. Approach: The study reported here investigated empirically the effects of content size on 5 different … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 6,599 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Review of the Mechanisms of Faecal Coliform Removal from Algal and Duckweed Waste Stabilization Pond SystemsE. D.O. Ansa, E. Awuah, A. Andoh et al.The use of eco-technologies for wastewater treatment such as algal and duckweed-based pond systems is becoming popular in developing countries owing to its affordability and efficiency of pathogen removal in warm climates. The pathogen removal mechanisms of these treatment systems however is still not clearly understood and existing knowledge is also scattered in journals and books of different disciplines. The … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 5 Apr 2015 · 8,368 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA COMPARATIVE STUDY OF COMBINED FEATURE SELECTION METHODS FOR ARABIC TEXT CLASSIFICATIONAisha Adel, Nazlia Omar, Adel Al-ShabiText classification is a very important task due to the huge amount of electronic documents. One of the problems of text classification is the high dimensionality of feature space. Researchers proposed many algorithms to select related features from text. These algorithms have been studied extensively for English text, while studies for Arabic are still limited. This study introduces an investigation … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 11 · 20 Dec 2014 · 8,439 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordTHE MANAGEMENT OF UNCERTAINTY: MODEL FOR EVALUATION OF HUMAN ERROR PROBABILITY IN RAILWAY SYSTEMLombardi Mara, Guarascio Massimo, Rossi GiulianoThe methodology of quantitative risk assessment in use in the railway industry refers the RAMS approach, as expected in EN 50126, to define the failure of the system. From the probability of failure follows the evaluation of the failure consequence, the check of the accident occurrence and finally, the analysis of the achievable accident scenarios to quantify the damage as … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 30 Dec 2013 · 7,394 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES FOR ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK IN BIO MEDICAL APPLICATIONSV. Saishanmuga Raja, S. P. RajagopalanIn this study we compare the performance of three evolutionary algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Ant-Colony Optimization (ACO) which are used to optimize the Artificial Neural Network (ANN). Optimization of Neural Networks improves speed of recall and may also improve the efficiency of training. Here we have used the Ant colony optimization, Particle Swarm … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 1 · 12 Nov 2013 · 7,291 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Comparative Study of the Ovine Haemogram: Cell-Dyn 3500 Versus Manual MethodsLabrini V. Athanasiou, Constantinos G. Giannakopoulos, Zoe S. Polizopoulou et al.Manual hematology techniques traditionally applied in farm animal medicine are time consuming and labor-intensive, especially when large numbers of samples have to be processed. As a result, several automated hematology instruments have been developed for use in these species. An automated hematology analyzer (Abbott Cell-Dyne 3500 system) was used in performing a complete blood cell count and differential counts of … …American Journal of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 23 Oct 2013 · 7,183 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordComparative Evaluation of Adaptive Filter and Neuro-Fuzzy Filter in Artifacts Removal From Electroencephalogram SignalPaulchamy Balaiah, IlavennilaProblem statement: This study presents an effective method for removing mixed artifacts (EOG-Electro-ocular gram, ECG-Electrocardiogram, EMG-Electromyogram) from the EEG-Electroencephalogram records. The noise sources increases the difficulty in analyzing the EEG and obtaining clinical information. EEG signals are multidimensional, non-stationary (i.e., statistical properties are not invariant in time), time domain biological signals, which are not reproducible. It is supposed to contain … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 15 Aug 2012 · 7,090 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordA Comparative Study of Enterprise Resource Planning Vs Service Oriented Architecture in Small Medium EnterprisesAli Taei Zadeh, Muriati Mukhtar, Shahnorbanun SahranProblem statement: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have such an important role in global success and become more complex over time. Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) follow large enterprises in using ERP systems while ERPs have not addressed the SME’s specific challenges such legacy systems as the main assets in SMEs that have not considered in ERP solutions as well as … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 8 · 6 Aug 2012 · 7,122 accessesView PDFCite
