Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsSelf-Managed Federation of MQTT Brokers with Dynamic Topology ControlBruno Bevilaqua, Marco Aurélio SpohnThe Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol is most used in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The protocol implements the Publish/Subscribe (P/S) communication model. Publishers are entities providing data to a server (broker), and subscribers are those showing interest in such data. The standard MQTT scenario relies on a single broker, a potential bottleneck, and a single point of failure. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 19, Issue 11 · 18 Oct 2023 · 5,248 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA New Approach to a Self-Organizing Federation of MQTT BrokersNicolas Kolling Ribas, Marco Aurélio SpohnIn the Publish/Subscribe (PS) communication paradigm clients producing content (i.e., publishers) send it to a broker, which relays the content to consumers (i.e., subscribers). Communication can happen asynchronously, leaving all the hurdles to the server/broker. MQ Telemetry Transport (MQTT) is the most used P/S protocol in designing IoT applications. The usual MQTT scenario comprises a single broker, making it a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 18, Issue 7 · 29 Jul 2022 · 6,156 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsPublish, Subscribe and Federate!Marco Aurelio SpohnConnecting usual things/objects to the Internet allows the monitoring and control of such things from anywhere, which is usually referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). Things communicate among themselves or with other entities (e.g., a server) so that information can be gathered from things whilst proper actions can be taken upon them. A prominent communication approach adopted by … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 16, Issue 7 · 6 Jul 2020 · 6,940 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSocialMANET: A Publish/Subscribe Events Dissemination Protocol for Mobile Ad-Hoc NetworksMaurice Tchoupé Tchendji, Martin Xavier Tchembé, Innocent Tialo NecheuThe popularization of mobile equipment capable of communicating autonomously nowadays offers the possibility of thinking more seriously about a mode of communication in which stakeholders communicate in an ad-hoc manner and use mobility to convey information. However, due to their mobile nature, such equipments are limited by their low energy and storage capacity. Algorithms designed for them must therefore be … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 9 · 3 Sep 2019 · 7,681 accessesView PDF Cite
