Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractGIS Mapping of Basal Stem Rot Disease in Relation to Soil Series Among Oil Palm SmallholdersK. Parthiban, R. Vanitah, K. Jusoff et al.Basal Stem Rot (BSR) is a disease caused by fungus which affect oil palm tree. This study aims to visualize the geographical distribution of BSR incidence among oil palm smallholders in Selangor using Geographical Information System (GIS) and its relationship to the type of soil series. The geographical distribution of BSR incidence of smallholders in Selangor were mapped using 168 … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 5 Jan 2016 · 8,683 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnalytical Analysis of In-Band Crosstalk, Out-of-Band Crosstalk and GVD-Based Power Penalties in DWDM and TDM/DWDM-PONSIbrahim Mohamed, Mohammad Syuhaimi Ab-RahmanIn addition to the ever-increasing demand for broader bandwidth per user, which results from the continuous development of new bandwidth-hungry services and applications, the consequent upgrade from the currently deployed Time-Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Networks (TDM-PONs) to Next-Generation Optical Access Networks (NG-OANs) has become inevitable. Different architectures for creating a NG-OAN have been proposed in the literature. Among those architectures, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 13 May 2015 · 7,317 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA LOW-COST EFFECTIVE UWB LOCATION SYSTEM BASED ON FREQUENCY SYNTHESIS TECHNOLOGYQilong Zhang, Fei QinWireless location system based on UWB signals has been widely utilized by wireless network recently, especially for the indoor scenarios where GPS signal has been heavily attenuated. However, due to the requirement of ultra wideband signals, existing location system usually faces problems including complexity, robust and cost, which limit the potential applications. In this study, we propose a new approach … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 26 Dec 2014 · 7,633 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA VISION-BASED TRAVELLED DISTANCE ESTIMATION ALGORITHM IN AN INDOOR ENVIRONMENT USING A MOBILE ROBOTMamadou Diop, Chot Hun Lim, Tien Sze Lim, Lee-Yeng OngAutonomous navigation for a mobile robot still remains as a challenging area to be explored. In an indoor environment, while GPS is unavailable and wheel encoder suffer from error accumulation due to wheel slips, vision-based travelled distance estimation can be considered as an alternative approach for more accurate measurements. This study presents a new algorithm to estimate travelled distance of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 26 Dec 2014 · 8,700 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMOBILE COMMUNICATIONS FOR USING IN TELEMEDICINEMarjan Ghazi Saeedi, Mashaallah Torabi, Sakineh Hamidi, Hassan RanjiTelemedicine the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. It is also used to save lives in critical care and emergency situations. Although there were distant precursors to telemedicine, … …Current Research in Medicine, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 12 Feb 2014 · 9,985 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCost-Effective Wire-Harness Model by Using Polymer Optical FiberMohammad Syuhaimi Ab-Rahman, Farshad Nasimi KhamenehIn the past decade automotive industries faced the exponential increase of in-vehicle electronic devices. The hydraulic systems are replacing with sophisticate electronic systems. Market demands for exploiting new in-vehicle technologies such as multimedia systems, internet access, GPS, Mobile communication, internal private network; engine, body and power train intelligent control and monitoring systems are increasing daily. These new needs make the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 25 Jun 2013 · 7,021 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Heuristic Moving Vehicle Location Prediction Technique Via Optimal Paths Selection with Aid of Genetic Algorithm and Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural NetworkE. Baby Anitha, K. DuraiswamyThe moving object or vehicle location prediction based on their spatial and temporal information is an important task in many applications. Different methods were utilized for performing the vehicle movement detection and prediction process. In such works, there is a lack of analysis in predicting the vehicles location in current as well as in future. Moreover, such methods compute the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 12 Dec 2012 · 8,888 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Analysis of Performance in Elite Young Cross-Country Skiing: Classical Style Vs Skate SkiingFrancisco P.D. la Fuente, Carlos C. Otin, Luis M. Benito et al.Problem statement: The aim of this study was to assess the differences in the skiing performance of two skiing styles (classical style Vs. skate skiing), in a group of young high-level skiers. Approach: Four high-level male junior cross-country skiers from the Centre of Winter Sports of Aragon (Spain), were selected for this study that was developed during two competitions: 10 … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 14 Sep 2011 · 8,820 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDevelopment of Wideband Planar Inverted-F Antennas for Wireless ApplicationSaida Ibnyaich, Abdelilah Ghammaz, Moha M’Rabet HassaniProblem statement: Due to the rapid development in wireless communication, the antennas capable of broad-band operations are very demanding in cellular communications systems. Among various possible antennas, planar inverted-F antennas (PIFAs) have the advantages of low profile and compact size and are very suitable for present-day wireless communication application. Approach: This study demonstrates a very effective method of bandwidth enhancement … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 14 Jul 2011 · 6,609 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Improved Location aided Cluster Based Routing Protocol with Intrusion Detection System in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksS. Mangai, A. TamilarasiProblem statement: Routing and security are the main challenges for ad hoc networks due to dynamic topology as well as resource constraints. A designed protocol must provide scalable routing with better security. Lack of any central coordination and shared wireless medium makes them more vulnerable to attacks than wired networks. And also resource constraints such as limited energy and size … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 7,103 accessesView PDFCite
