Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA NOVEL OPTIMIZATION MODEL FOR SIMULTANEOUS COST-RISK REDUCTION IN MULTI-SUPPLIERS JUST-IN-TIME SYSTEMSFaraj El Dabee, Romeo Marian, Yousef AmerIn today’s competitive global markets, Just-in-Time (JIT) is one of the main lean manufacturing approaches. It is used in organizations to improve performance and reduce costs and as a strategic core capability to ensure their market position. However, using JIT tightly couples various functions of the Supply Chain and increases the risk of propagating disruptions through the entire system. This … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 7,610 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMathematical Model for Waste Reduction in Aluminum Fabrication Industry in KuwaitMohammed A. HajeehProblem statement: Waste generation in the aluminum industry throughout the fabrication processes in Kuwait. Approach: A mathematical model has been developed to analyze the fabrication process and a special heuristic is designed for solving the model. The model uses actual data presented from an Aluminum Fabrication Industry (AFI). Results: Reduced the amount of waste generated substantially during the process. Conclusion/Recommendations: … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2010 · 8,253 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEconomic Ordering Quantity Model with Lead Time Reduction and Backorder Price Discount for Stochastic DemandMing-Cheng LoThis study considered reorder point on the continuous review inventory model under controllable lead time with mixture of backorder price discounts and partial lost sales. We developed a continuous review inventory model where the lead time, the order quantity, backorder discount and safety factor were considered as the decision variables of a mixture of backorders and lost sales inventory model. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,018 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleApplying a Just-in-Time Integrated Supply Chain Model with Inventory and Waste Reduction ConsiderationsLi-Hsing Ho, Wei-Feng KaoJust-In-Time (JIT) has been playing an important role in supply chain environments. Countless firms have been applying JIT in production to gain and maintain a competitive advantage. This study introduces an innovative model which integrates inventory and quality assurance in a JIT supply chain. This approach assumes that manufacturing will produce some defective items and those products will not influence … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 7 · 4 Jul 2013 · 6,990 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR A SIMULTANEOUS OPTIMISATION OF COST-RISK REDUCTION UNDER A JUST-IN-TIME ADAPTIONFaraj El Dabee, Romeo Marian, Yousef AmerJust-In-Time (JIT) as a lean manufacturing approach plays a significant role in minimising costs and performances of products and services supplied to the global marketplace. However, there are many potential risks that cause significant disruptions to all supply chain members. This study proposes a genetic approach for optimising a novel mathematical model for simultaneously minimising the total cost of a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 26 Dec 2014 · 7,692 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Comparative Analysis of the Entropy and Transition Point Approach in Representing Index Terms of Literary TextHayati Abd Rahman, Shahrul Azman NoahProblem statement: Concept hierarchy is a hierarchically organized collection of domain concepts. It is particularly useful in many applications such as information retrieval, document browsing and document classification. Approach: One of the important tasks in construction of concept hierarchy is identification of suitable terms with appropriate size of domain vocabulary. Results: One way of achieving such a size is by … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 30 Jun 2011 · 6,676 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsApplication of Value Chain Management to Longan IndustryApichat Sopadang, Korrakot Y. Tippayawong, Woramol ChaowarutLongan plays an important role as an economic fruit of Thailand because of its volume and size in markets, both domestic and aboard. It was generally known that serious problems were encountered in current longan production and sale, especially the increased production cost. To understand the overall situation clearly, longan’s supply chain was evaluated using the Supply Chain Operations Reference … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 28 Jul 2012 · 14,357 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Note on Model Selection in Mixture ExperimentsKadri Ulaş AkayIn mixture experiments, determination of the best model for modeling the mixture system is significant in both understanding and interpreting the system. For obtaining the best model in mixture experiments, different methods have been used. Most commonly used methods are the stepwise type methods. However, the models obtained with these methods are not always the best model depending on the … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 3, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2007 · 6,939 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractProduction of an Achillea millefolium (Yarrow) Toothpaste to Combat Gum and Tooth PainMunashe K. F. Chakamanga, Ashley Kumalo K, Dirk Hamadziripi MGum inflammation also known as gingivitis is primarily caused by the accumulation of dental plaque that forms on teeth. The inflammation triggers pain in the gums and surrounding tissues due to increased blood flow and immune activity aimed at combating the bacterial infection. Thus, this study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of Yarrow-based toothpaste in reducing gum inflammation. … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 26, Issue 4 · 9 Oct 2026 · 420 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSocial Protection Cash Transfers and Gendered Equality: An Analysis of Gendered Differences in Poverty Reduction and Income DistributionJulius OkelloThis research investigates key determinants of poverty reduction and income distribution in eastern Uganda's Teso sub-region. Regression analysis reveals significant negative coefficients for access to healthcare (β = -0.414, p = 0.029) and road infrastructure (β = -0.363, p = 0.014), indicating lower poverty levels in communities with better access.
