Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsEnhancing Quality of Service of Video Streaming Applications Over Vehicular Ad-Hoc NetworksPooja Sharma, Ajay KaulVehicular ad-hoc networks play quite an important role in communication as it is challenging to have communication across VANET nodes because of high mobility. Video streaming applications over ad-hoc networks are quite difficult because of more mobility of VANET nodes. There are various existing techniques to optimize or improve the video dissemination over ad-hoc networks. Video streaming applications need a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 7 · 30 Jun 2025 · 3,387 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAn Approach to the Performance and Efficiency Power Analysis on Embedded Devices Using AsteriskAdauto Cavalcante Menezes, Toniclay Andrade Nogueira, Edward David Moreno Ordonez, Admilson de Ribamar Lima RibeiroVoice over IP (VoIP) communication will dominate the computing world for years to come. In order to perform VoIP communication, it is necessary to encode and decode the voice. This process consumes the main computational resources, as an example, it is possible to mention the processor and memory. The telecommunication industries provide equipment with high purchasing prices, which makes the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 7 · 2 Aug 2018 · 8,258 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsStateless Aggregate Fair Marking Scheduler for Differentiated Service NetworksNandhini Sivasubramaniam, Palaniammal SenniappanIn diffserv networks, as the traffic flows vary constantly, it is very difficult to maintain the per-flow state. The computation of rate information of the traffic flow also becomes complex. In this study, we propose a Stateless Aggregate Fair Marking (SAMQ) with Multiple Queue Priority Scheduler for Differentiated Service (DiffServ) networks. Initially, priority scheduler is applied to the flows entering … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 9 Feb 2013 · 7,510 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsMultipath Adaptive Packet Dispersion for Voice ApplicationsJ. Faritha Banu, V. RamachandranProblem statement: The quality of Voice over IP applications is decided by the main factors like network capacity and technologies such as codec type, Packet Loss Concealment (PLC) and Forward Error Correction (FEC). Approach: In MPLS networks multiple Label Switched Paths (LSP) are established between MPLS ingress and egress nodes to enhance the network performance and QoS for subscribers. To … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 27 Jan 2012 · 7,716 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsMobility Management Technique for Real Time Traffic in 802.11 NetworksGurpal Singh, Ajay Pal Singh Atwal, B.S. SohisA practical mobility management technique aimed at reducing handoff latency to less than 10ms has been proposed and implemented in this paper. Handoff latency has been reduced by decoupling scanning from handoff execution process. This scheme has been implemented in the form of client side application with modifications to open source Madwifi new generation driver. Performance of this mobility management … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2007 · 6,779 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsSession Initiation Protocol Security: A Brief ReviewAws Naser Jaber, Chen-Wei Tan, Selvakumar Manickam, Ali Abdulrazzaq KhudherProblem statement: This study aims to discuss several issues on session initiation protocol security and threats. An in-depth investigation related to SIP with the intention to categorize the wide variety of SIP security issues. Approach: Related papers to the infrastructure of SIP security were analyzed. Some of the identified issues are: Social threats, eavesdropping, delaying, modification of media session, service … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 3 · 10 Feb 2012 · 7,966 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsThird Order of Automatic Restoration Scheme Offered in Fiber ToThe Home-Passive Optical Network through Customer Access Protection UnitMohammad Syuhaimi Ab-Rahman, Siti Asma Che Aziz, Kasmiran JumariProblem statement: This study highlight on restoration scheme proposed against failure in working line at the drop region for Fiber To The Home (FTTH) with a Passive Optical Network (PON). Whereas PON is a system that brings optical fiber cable and signals all or most of the way to the end user. In this study we highlighted the issue on … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 8 Feb 2012 · 6,315 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsImproving Triple Play Services Using Multi Protocol Label Switching TechnologyWaheed Yasin, Hamidah IbrahimProblem statement: Traditional IP networks have many limitations such as routing tables, which can be complex and time consuming. These limitations affect the performance of the network in some applications of triple play services (i.e., voice, video and data) which are characterized as time sensitive applications. Thus, Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology has been proposed to speed up the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 7,520 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Evaluation of Handover in WiMax with TCP and UDP as Underlying ProtocolKaram Dhafer Mayoof, Rosilah Hassan, Amjed Sid Ahmed, Ahmed MarwanThe rejection of an ongoing connection/session is serious problem and it degrades the QoS and efficiency of the network rather than rejecting a request for new connection. The impact on performance of handovers is a serious problem in cellular systems that must be addressed. During handover there may be delay in packets and connections may drop. Real time applications i.e., … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 9 · 12 Dec 2015 · 7,244 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUtility Based Scheduling and Call Admission Control for Long Term Evolution NetworksJ. Vijay Franklin, K. ParamasivamIn this study, we propose to design a call admission control algorithm which schedules the channels for Real time and non-real time users. In Long Term Evolution (LTE) 3GPP Networks, several works were done on call admission control but these works rarely considers scheduling of resources to the real time and non-real time users. When the system meets traffic oriented performance … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 13 Dec 2012 · 6,785 accessesView PDFCite
