Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesAn Improved Time Domain Pitch Detection Algorithm for Pathological VoiceMohd Redzuan Jamaludin, Sheikh Hussain Shaikh Salleh, Tan Tian Swee et al.Problem statement: The present study proposes a new pitch detection algorithm which could potentially be used to detect pitch for disordered or pathological voices. One of the parameters required for dysphonia diagnosis is pitch and this prompted the development of a new and reliable pitch detection algorithm capable of accurately detect pitch in disordered voices. Approach: The proposed method applies … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 1 · 21 Nov 2011 · 7,674 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesSurface Electromyography-Based Facial Expression Recognition in Bi-Polar ConfigurationMahyar Hamedi, Sh-Hussain Salleh, Tan Tian Swee, KamarulafizamProblem statement: Facial expression recognition has been improved recently and it has become a significant issue in diagnostic and medical fields, particularly in the areas of assistive technology and rehabilitation. Apart from their usefulness, there are some problems in their applications like peripheral conditions, lightening, contrast and quality of video and images. Approach: Facial Action Coding System (FACS) and some … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 9 · 25 Jul 2011 · 9,950 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesGray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix Bone Fracture DetectionHum Yan Chai, Lai Khin Wee, Tan Tian Swee et al.Problem statement: Currently doctors in orthopedic wards inspect the bone x-ray images according to their experience and knowledge in bone fracture analysis. Manual examination of x-rays has multitude drawbacks. The process is time-consuming and subjective. Approach: Since detection of fractures is an important orthopedics and radiologic problem and therefore a Computer Aided Detection(CAD) system should be developed to improve the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2011 · 8,973 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesWave V Detection Using Instantaneous Energy of Auditory Brainstem Response SignalM. M. Rushaidin, Sh-Hussain Salleh, Tan Tian Swee et al.Problem statement: ABR machine is a well known machine that has been used on detection of hearing problem especially for babies or children. In ABR, wave V is the most prominent and robust wave that has been used as indicator of hearing loss. However, a fast detection of the wave V is necessary in order to implement newborn hearing screening. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2009 · 7,788 accessesView PDFCite
