Technical ReportOpen accessPhrase in the titleInfluences of Tactile Sensation on Pinch Force under Loaded and Unloaded ConditionsPoh Kiat Ng, Kian Siong Jee, Adi Saptari, Chiew Yean NgAlthough researchers have studied various parameters that affect grip force, few studies investigate the effects of tactile sensation on pinch force. This study aims to determine the influences of tactile sensation on pinch force with a special emphasis on screw knobs under loaded and unloaded conditions. The participants included 32 manual workers who were required to pinch and turn the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 12, Issue 8 · 17 Sep 2015 · 6,904 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleRobot Control Using Natural Instructions Via Visual and Tactile SensationsTakuya Ikai, Shota Kamiya, Masahiro OhkaStress-free interaction between humans and robots is necessary to support humans in daily life. In order to achieve this, we anticipate the development of new robots equipped with tactile and vision sensors for receiving human instructions. In this article, we focus on spontaneous movements that do not require training, such as pointing and force adjustment and that are suitable for … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 12, Issue 5 · 27 May 2016 · 7,586 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSensorization of Robotic Hand Using Optical Three-Axis Tactile Sensor: Evaluation with Grasping and Twisting MotionsHanafiah Yussof, Jiro Wada, Masahiro OhkaProblem statement: Sensitization of robot hand is still remaining as crucial issue since most of robot hand systems nowadays are only capable to grasp a predefined specific object. It is still difficult for robot hand system to realize human-like tactile sensation. Some common problems in robot hand system are low accuracy sensing device, sensors are not robust enough for long … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 7,846 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractResponse of SAI Afferents May Play a Role in the Perception of Velvet Hand IllusionAbdullah Chami, Masahiro Ohka, Yuji Kawabe, Hanafiah Bin YussofProblem statement: We revealed the reason behind a haptic illusion called the Velvet Hand Illusion (VHI) by FEM analysis. In VHI, a person rubs his/her hands together on both sides of wires strung through a frame and produces the sensation of rubbing a very smooth and soft surface like velvet. We focus on VHI to determine the specifications of an … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 6,993 accessesView PDF Cite
