Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleFUZZY ROUND ROBIN CPU SCHEDULING ALGORITHMBashir AlamOne problem in Round Robin CPU Scheduling is that if the time required for the running process is slightly more than time quantum even by a fraction value, then process gets preempted and context switch occurs. This causes more waiting time for that process and more overheads due to unnecessary context switch. Another problem with RR scheduling is the value … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 9 Jul 2013 · 7,909 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsPerformance Assessment of CPU Scheduling Algorithms: A Scenario-Based Approach with FCFS, RR, and SJFOlaa Hajjar, Escelle Mekhallalati, Nada Annwty et al.This study presents an extensive examination of CPU scheduling algorithms, focusing on the First-Come, First-Served (FCFS), Round-Robin (RR), and Shortest-Job-First (SJF) strategies through a carefully designed scenario-based approach. By deploying a Java-based simulation to dynamically generate random process arrival and burst times, this study simulates a variety of operational conditions to test these scheduling algorithms’ adaptability and performance in environments … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 20, Issue 9 · 16 Jun 2024 · 9,091 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsQUANTITATIVE EVALUATION OF JOB AND RESOURCES FOR BETTER SELECTION TO IMPROVE MAKESPAN IN GRID SCHEDULINGKrishnamoorthy Natarajan, Asokan Ramasamy, Sangeetha SubramanianThis study presents the Priority based ranking of jobs and resources to improve the Makespan in the grid scheduling problem. Grid environment’s effectiveness largely depends on scheduler’s effectiveness/efficiency as they act as local resource brokers. The scheduler is responsible to select resources/scheduling jobs so that users/application requirements are met regarding overall execution time (throughput) and the resources use cost. The … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 5 · 4 Jan 2014 · 6,554 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsSelf-Adjustment Time Quantum in Round Robin Algorithm Depending on Burst Time of the Now Running ProcessesRami J. MatarnehProblem statement: The performance and efficiency of multitasking operating systems mainly depends on the used CPU scheduling algorithm where the CPU is one of the primary computer resources and as round robin scheduling algorithm is considered most widely used scheduling algorithms in this research a new proposed variant of this algorithm presented, discussed in detail, tested and verified. Approach: The … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2009 · 8,934 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractApplication of Viral System Algorithm in Load Balancing of Cloud EnvironmentDamodar Tiwari, Shailendra Singh, Sanjeev SharmaAs the cloud computing technology is gaining popularity with time, more and more users and applications are shifting towards it. This is why clouds are experiencing high load, which demands for load balancing of user tasks submitted to cloud for execution. This makes load balancing of non-preemptive tasks a key issue in cloud computing. Superior task scheduling leads to balanced … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 7 · 14 Jul 2018 · 8,406 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Comparative Analysis of Task Scheduling Algorithms of Virtual Machines in Cloud EnvironmentSaleh Atiewi, Salman Yussof, Mohd EzaneeCloud computing is an interesting and beneficial area in modern distributed computing. It enables millions of users to use the offered services through their own devices or terminals. Cloud computing offers an environment with low cost, ease of use and low power consumption by utilizing server virtualization in its offered services (e.g., Infrastructure as a Service). The pool of Virtual … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 6 · 18 Sep 2015 · 7,642 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBandwidth-Adaptive Scheduling for Quality of Service Enhancement of Real-Time Multimedia Applications in Network Processor Based RouterR. Avudaiammal, P. SeethalakshmiProblem statement: An explosive growth of multimedia applications in internet has stressed the performance of routers. Hence managing Quality of Service (QoS) enhancement of real-time multimedia applications over IP is a significant and demanding challenge. Approach: To address this issue, Bandwidth Adaptive Stratified Round Robin (BASRR) packet scheduling algorithm has been proposed in this paper for enhancing quality of service … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 6,824 accessesView PDF Cite
