Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsPerformance Analysis of Different Optical Switching ArchitecturesSalman Ali Al-QahtaniProblem statement: Optical Packet Switching (OPS) and transmission networks based on Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) have been increasingly deployed in the Internet infrastructure over the last decade in order to meet the huge increasing demand for bandwidth. Several different technologies have been developed for optical packet switching such as space switches, broadcast-and-select, input buffered switches and output buffered switches. These … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 14 Jul 2011 · 6,330 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMPLS over Segmented WDM Optical Packet Switching NetworksHakim Mellah, Fouad M. AbbouWavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) is a promising solution for data transport in future all-optical wide area networks. Such networks consist of fibers joined by dynamically controllable cross-connects which provide purely optical transport between pairs of network access stations. Optical packet switching (OPS) is optical switching with the finest granularity. Incoming packets are switched all-optically without being converted to electrical signal. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 May 2006 · 6,750 accessesView PDF Cite
