Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsHybrid Approach for Detection and Recognition of VehiclesK. S. Selvanayaki, Rm. SomaSundaramOn road vehicles have increased in numbers and monitoring them is a challenging task. In common areas of public crowd people and vehicles are common objects for monitoring. The proposed system aims at detecting number plate information indicating the possibility for security relevant issues. Existing system performs recognition mainly by using license plate alone. Addition of the features (logo, colour, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 2 · 6 Sep 2014 · 7,430 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDistributed Vehicle Tracking System Using Image Processing TechniquesIehab Abdul Jabbar Kamil, Mohanad Abdulsalam Al-AskariIn this part of the research, an implementation of a distributed vehicle tracking system that uses image processing techniques for real-time automobile surveillance is done. The system uses OpenCV, Pytesseract and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for the extraction of the license plate information from vehicle images to identify and track vehicles. By doing so, distributed computing enables the system to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 8 · 9 Oct 2025 · 2,263 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEGYPTIAN LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION USING ENHANCED STROKE WIDTH TRANSFORMATION AND FUZZY ARTMAPAlaa Mohamed Youssef, Mohamed S. El-Mahallawy, Amr BadrLicense Plate Recognition (LPR) is the most important type of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). LPR is used in many different types of ITS like electronic payment systems, toll station, parking fees, freeway and arterial management systems for traffic surveillance. Few years ago, Egyptians government changed the car license plate to include letters and numbers. So the needs for efficient LPR … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 6 · 28 Jan 2014 · 7,466 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLICENSE PLATE LOCALIZATION USING GABOR FILTERS AND NEURAL NETWORKSSami Ktata, Faouzi Benzarti, Hamid AmiriVehicle License Plate Detection (LPD) is an important step for the vehicle plate recognition which can be used in the intelligent transport systems. Many methods have been proposed for the detection of license plates based on: Mathematical morphology, Discrete Wavelet Transform, Hough Transform and others. In general, an LPR system includes four main parts: Vehicle image acquisition, license plate detection, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 5 Sep 2013 · 6,977 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Improved Approach for Detecting Car in Video using Neural Network ModelS. N. Sivanandam, T. Senthil KumarThe study represents a novel approach taken towards car detection, feature extraction and classification in a video. Though many methods have been proposed to deal with individual features of a vehicle, like edge, license plate, corners, no system has been implemented to combine features. Combination of four unique features, namely, color, shape, number plate and logo gives the application a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 10 · 1 Sep 2012 · 7,151 accessesView PDF Cite
