Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEmbedded Software Platform Used for Detection and Mitigation of a MAC Anomaly in IEEE 802.11n NetworksArgemiro Bevilacqua, Vitor Chaves de Oliveira, Gunnar Bedicks Jr. et al.IEEE 802.11 standard is largely used anywhere as a cheap way to access internet, but the majority of devices used does not provide a standard way to manage them. Mobile stations competing for access point may causes a general wireless network failure, known as the ''MAC Anomaly''. It is presented here an access point with modified firmware, that monitors wireless … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 12, Issue 12 · 21 Nov 2015 · 6,509 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleCCMP Advanced Encryption Standard Cipher For Wireless Local Area Network (IEEE 802.11i): A Comparison with DES and RSAR. Velayutham, D. ManimegalaiThe comparative analysis of the renowned cryptographic algorithms AES, DES and RSA. The Rijndael algorithm was adapted as Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, to Data Encryption algorithm (DES), which have been in the security standards since long time. The comparative analysis is implemented in IEEE 802.11i wireless platform. Compared to DES, AES contains CCMP which is a security standard that … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 2 · 26 Aug 2014 · 8,602 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHistory Based Contention Window Control in IEEE 802.11 MAC Protocol in Error Prone ChannelAli Balador, Ali Movaghar, Sam JabbehdariProblem statement: IEEE 802.11 Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is one of the most implemented protocols in this network. The IEEE 802.11 controls the access to the share wireless channel within competing stations. The IEEE 802.11 DCF doubles the Contention Window (CW) size for decreasing the collision within contending stations and to improve the network performances but it is not … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Jul 2010 · 7,662 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEnhancing Wireless Medium Access Control Layer Misbehavior Detection System in IEEE 802.11 NetworkA. M. Alsahag, M. OthmanWireless Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols such as IEEE 802.11 use distributed contention resolution mechanisms for sharing the wireless channel. In this environment, selfish hosts that fail to adhere to the MAC protocol may obtain an unfair throughput share. For example, IEEE 802.11 requires hosts competing for access to the channel to wait for a "back-off" interval, randomly selected from … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 6,963 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Fully Integrated Dual-Band Low Noise Amplifier for IEEE 802.11 and Hiper LAN ApplicationMow Shouxian, Ma Jianguo, Yeo Kiat Seng, Do Manh AnhA fully-integrated dual-band Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), which can be used for IEEE 802.11 and Hiper LAN applications, was investigated in this paper. The proposed LAN was implemented entirely pm a single chip based on a standard 0.18 μm 1P6M CMOS process. It draws 13 mA current from a 1.5-V voltage supply and achieves power gains of 17 and 10 … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2004 · 7,288 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleComparative Performance Evaluation of Routing Algorithms in IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.11 with Different Ad Hoc Routing ProtocolP. Anitha, C. ChandrasekarProblem statement: Wireless ADHOC networks are self organized dynamic networks can share wireless channel without any established central control standard for IEEE 802.11. Approach: The most common protocols are AODV, DSDV, DSR in ADHOC used to ensure the data transmission among themselves. To meet the need of low power and low cost IEEE 802.15.4 standard was developed for sensor networks. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 7,409 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAnalytical Modeling of IEEE 802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access under a Non-Saturation ConditionG. Prakash, P. ThangarajProblem statement: The IEEE 802.11e EDCA protocol with different access Categories (ACs) supporting for Quality-of-Service (QoS). Due to internal or external packet collision, the Contention Window (CW) of the station increases the channel idle time under high Bit Error Rate (BER). Approach: In this study, we propose an analytical model for performance evaluation of IEEE 802.11e EDCA scheme under non-saturation … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 7,095 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleInterference Mitigation in IEEE 802.15.4-A Cluster Based Scheduling ApproachG. M. Tamilselvan, A. ShanmugamProblem statement: In universal networking environments; two or more heterogeneous communication systems coexisting in a single place. Especially, Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) based on IEEE 802.11b specifications and Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) based on IEEE 802.15.4 specifications need to coexist in the same Industrial, Science and Medial (ISM) band. If the WPAN communication coverage is expanded using a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 15 Jan 2011 · 7,388 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleQuality of Service Policy for IEEE 802.11 Networks with Service Rate Selection based on Fairness IndexLia Toledo Moreira Mota, Alexandre de Assis Mota, Luis Fernando FontolanProblem statement: The IEEE802.11 standard states that all stations have the same probability of accessing the network, but does not consider important parameters such as transmission rates and signal-to-noise ratios. However, these networks present an anomaly that allows a station with a low transmission rate to use the communication channel for a long time. Approach: In this context, this study … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 6,660 accessesView PDFCite
