Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleLICENSE PLATE LOCALIZATION USING GABOR FILTERS AND NEURAL NETWORKSSami Ktata, Faouzi Benzarti, Hamid AmiriVehicle License Plate Detection (LPD) is an important step for the vehicle plate recognition which can be used in the intelligent transport systems. Many methods have been proposed for the detection of license plates based on: Mathematical morphology, Discrete Wavelet Transform, Hough Transform and others. In general, an LPR system includes four main parts: Vehicle image acquisition, license plate detection, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 5 Sep 2013 · 6,977 accessesView PDFCite
Review ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleMedicinal Plant Identification using Gabor Filters and Deep Learning Techniques: A Paper ReviewStephen Opoku Oppong, Frimpong Twum, James Ben Hayfron-Acquah, Yaw Marfo MissahComputer-aided identification of plants is a branch of machine learning that has become more recognized recently and proves itself as a vital tool in numerous sectors including pharmacological science, forestry and agriculture. This has essentially generated a zeal in creating automated systems for the identification of diverse species of plants. This study reviewed plant species classification relying on leaf textural … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 12 · 24 Dec 2021 · 7,821 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleComparative Analysis of Binary Patterns Pyramid and Gabor Filters for Machine Learning-Based Nail Disease DetectionJagadeeswari Boopalan, Maruthu Perumal SabtharishiNail diseases, including Onychomycosis and Psoriasis, are common conditions that pose diagnostic challenges due to subtle clinical presentations and reliance on invasive methods. This study investigates the effectiveness of Binary Patterns Pyramid Filter (BPPF) and Gabor Filter (GF) as feature extraction techniques for machine learning-based nail disease detection, addressing three categories: Healthy, Onychomycosis, and Psoriasis. Using a dataset of 1,466 … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 8 · 2 Oct 2025 · 2,178 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Novel Approach for Differentiating AI-Generated and Real Images Using Gabor and Color Layout Filters (GF and CLF)G. Ayyappan, A. Thankaraj, S. Surendran et al.The emergence of generative AI images has profoundly upended the art world. Distinguishing AI-generated images from human-created artwork is increasingly challenging. If this issue remains unresolved, dishonest individuals may exploit those who are willing to pay more for original artwork and businesses whose stated policies exclude AI graphics. There are a number of methods for differentiating AI photos from human … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 2 · 3 Mar 2026 · 1,751 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsClassification of Finger Vein Image Using Convolutional Neural NetworkAhmed S. Hameed, Shawkat K. Guirguis, Hend A. ElsayedCurrently available technologies can perform rather well, but their effectiveness is mostly contingent on how well the venous images being analyzed are quality images. Finger vein features have garnered significant attention in the past few years as a potential means of automatic user identification. A significant amount of daily usage goes into the very vital personal identification procedure. The identification … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 2 · 6 Jan 2025 · 4,712 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Innovative Method for Recognizing Face Expressions Based on Genetic Algorithm and Extreme Learning Based Hybrid ModelTushar Dhar Shukla, Md Oqail Ahmad, Puneet Sapra et al.The detection of facial action coding system Action Units (AU) and other facial expressions has been a major focus of computer science for more than 20 years categorizing discrete emotional states based on facial expressions. While several widely used face expression databases exist, standardization and comparability remain key challenges. The lack of a universally recognized assessment procedure and insufficient information … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 2 · 18 Jan 2025 · 7,293 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLand Cover Change Detection Using Texture AnalysisXiaofeng Wu, Fen Yang, Roly LishmanProblem statement: It is an important task to detect land cover changes from remotely sensed data for environmental monitoring. Although there are some applications of visual textures to the land use, they are limited to a few land cover categories with the application of one texture measure. Since land cover types are complex and often the integration of various objects, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 8,198 accessesView PDFCite
