Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleEmbedded Systems Education for Multiple DisciplinesAli H. El-Mousa, Ashraf Al-SuyyaghProblem statement: This study described the process and experience of designing and developing an embedded systems first course that serves different disciplines at the University of Jordan together with its associated laboratory. The course serves three different departments with varying requirements and varying student initial background. The stages of the design process of the course and associated labs are explored. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Jun 2010 · 7,095 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleClassification of Attacks on Embedded SystemsNoura Ouerdi, M’hammed Ziane, Abdelmalek Azizi, Mostafa AziziThe current growth of the number of Embedded Systems (ES) and their use in sensitive systems attract the attention of attackers. They are exposed to real threats and incur significant risks especially when they are involved in specific military or industrial systems. It is important to study the subject from different angles to understand, predict and learn how to protect … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 11 · 19 Sep 2012 · 6,691 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleDesign of a Merged DSP Microcontroller for Embedded Systems using Discrete Orthogonal TransformA. K. Rath, P. K. MeherIn this paper we have proposed the design of a DSP microcontroller where the processor load is significantly reduced by relegating the math-intensive DSP algorithm to dedicated transform computing modules. It is shown that the use of such transform modules will facilitate scalability, reusability and flexibility for implementation of wide varieties of DSP functionalities. Moreover, it would be possible to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 5 · 31 Aug 2006 · 6,918 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleTowards Autonomously Developed Software: A genetic Approach in Critical and Embedded SystemsDjamel Meslati, Saïd GhoulNowadays, we are still considering changes undergone by a software system as a sporadic phenomenon and we do not sufficiently anticipate future changes during the development phase. Consequently, many problems arise in the maintenance phase. In this study, we present an approach where all changes undergone by a software system are considered as its ontogenetic dimension. We represent this dimension … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2005 · 6,191 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleCodesign Methodology of Real-time Embedded Controllers for Electromechanical SystemsSlim Ben Saoud, Andreas Gerstlauer, Daniel D. GajskiUnder increasing time-to-market pressures in the electric drives industries, the development time of new algorithms and new control systems including their debugging time must be minimized. This requirement can be satisfied only by using a well-defined system-level design methodology and by reducing the migration time between the algorithm development language and the hardware specification language. In this study, we propose … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,444 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAn Experimental Study on the Embedded Software Development Approach Using TI-RTOSAloysio Augusto Rabello de Carvalho, Luiz Eduardo Galvão MartinsEmbedded systems have experienced significant growth in recent years. These systems, which power a wide range of devices from smart appliances to industrial machinery, have become integral to our daily lives and industries. However, this rapid expansion introduces new challenges for developers. A critical decision involves whether to employ a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) or to forgo it, depending on … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 6 · 17 Jul 2025 · 3,068 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAn Approach to the Performance and Efficiency Power Analysis on Embedded Devices Using AsteriskAdauto Cavalcante Menezes, Toniclay Andrade Nogueira, Edward David Moreno Ordonez, Admilson de Ribamar Lima RibeiroVoice over IP (VoIP) communication will dominate the computing world for years to come. In order to perform VoIP communication, it is necessary to encode and decode the voice. This process consumes the main computational resources, as an example, it is possible to mention the processor and memory. The telecommunication industries provide equipment with high purchasing prices, which makes the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 7 · 2 Aug 2018 · 8,258 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsEvaluation of Test Case Generation based on a Software Product Line for Model TransformationAlexandre Augusto Giron, Itana Maria de Souza Gimenes, Edson OliveiraJrModel-Driven Engineering (MDE) supports model evolution and refinement by means of model transformations at several abstraction levels. Validating these transformations is essential to ensure the quality and correctness of such models. However, MDE transformations become more complex to validate, for example, when they are implemented in different languages. One particular example is the transformation of the SyMPLES approach. SyMPLES is … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 1 · 22 Jan 2018 · 8,282 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsROBUST MEMORY MANAGEMENT USING REAL TIME CONCEPTSV. Karthikeyan, S. Ravi, M. AnandMemory fragmentation is the development of a large number of separate free areas. Memory management in embedded systems demand effective implementation schemes to avoid fragmentation problem. Existing dynamic memory allocation methods fail to suit real time system requirements. Execution times need to be deterministic and this motivates the need for allocation and deallocation to be done in constant time with … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 8 · 1 Apr 2014 · 7,488 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAN APPROACH TO MITIGATE DENIAL OF SERVICE ATTACKS IN IEEE 802.11 NETWORKSAdriano Cesar Ribeiro, Alex Roschildt Pinto, Geraldo Francisco Donega Zafalon et al.Wireless networks are widely deployed and have many uses, for example in critical embedded systems. The applications of this kind of network meets the common needs of most embedded systems and addressing the particularities of each scenario, such as limitations of computing resources and energy supply. Problems such as denial of service attacks are common place and cause great inconvenience. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 1 · 12 Nov 2013 · 8,621 accessesView PDFCite
