Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleSecond-Order Statistical Approach for Digital Modulation Scheme Classification in Cognitive Radio Using Support Vector Machine and K-Nearest Neighbor ClassifierS. Ravi, R. KannanCognitive radio systems require detection of different signals for communication. In this study, an approach for multiclass signal classification based on second-order statistical feature is proposed. The proposed system is designed to recognize three different digital modulation schemes such as PAM, 32QAM and 64QAM. The signal classification is achieved by extracting the 2nd order cumulants of the real and imaginary … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 2 · 11 Apr 2013 · 6,732 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleIntelligent Digital Signal Modulation Recognition using Machine LearningMudhafar Haji Mala Abd, Sadegh AminifarInrecent years, modulation type recognition has received a lot of attentionacross the board. There are several methods to detect modulation types, butthere are only a few effective methods to handle signals with a higher level ofnoise. This study introduces an approach to verify the ability of differentmachine learning algorithms to automatically manage noise in detecting digitalmodulations. This research examines two … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 18, Issue 10 · 26 Sep 2022 · 6,095 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsThe Performance of a Dual Header Pulse Interval Modulation in the Presence of Artificial Light Interferences in an Indoor Optical Wireless Communications Channel with Wavelet DenoisingS. Rajbhandari, Z. Ghassemlooy, M. AngelovaProblem statement: Similar to other baseband modulation schemes, the performance of the Dual Header Pulse Interval Modulation (DH-PIM) is adversely affected by Artificial Light Interferences (ALI) in an indoor Optical Wireless Communications (OWC) channel. Approach: The Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based denoising is studied for reducing the effect of the ALI. Computer simulation is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 18 Jan 2012 · 7,780 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSynthesis of Optimal Incoherent Subcarrier Tracking of BOC(1,1) Navigation SignalsAlexandr Ivanovich PerovNavigation receivers of global positioning systems that are operated in complex electromagnetic environment must have an increased noise immunity characteristic. One way of such noise immunity rising is to use incoherent operating mode of navigation receiver. There are known processing algorithms for navigation signals with Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) modulation. But in the near-term outlook Global Navigation Satellite Systems … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 13, Issue 9 · 26 Sep 2016 · 7,166 accessesView PDFCite
Technical ReportOpen accessIn the abstractAnalysis of Low Probability of Intercept Radar Signals Using the Reassignment MethodDaniel L. Stevens, Stephanie A. SchuckersDigital intercept receivers are currently moving towards classical time-frequency analysis techniques for analyzing low probability of intercept radar signals. Although these techniques are an improvement over existing Fourier-based techniques, they still suffer from a lack of readability, due to poor time-frequency localization and cross-term interference, which may lead to inaccurate detection and parameter extraction. In this study, the reassignment method, … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 25 Mar 2015 · 7,210 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Optimistic Adaptive Modulation Technique for Future Wireless CommunicationKugalur Muthusamy Palaniswamy, Veerappa Gounder PalanisamyThe Future Wireless Communication requires 100 Mbits/s Data rate, streaming audio/video, asymmetric access/multiple access, Adaptive modulation and coding, dynamic packet arrangement, smart antenna adaptation andIPv6 facility to enhance error free communication. Various digital modulation techniques have been taken for simulation and bit error rate is calculated in both MC-CDMA System and OFDMA system. The continuous phase modulation techniques ensures large … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 4 · 13 May 2013 · 6,448 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractNew Control Technique Applied in Dynamic Voltage Restorer for Voltage Sag MitigationRosli Omar, Nasrudin Abd Rahim, Marizan SulaimanThe Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) was a power electronics device that was able to compensate voltage sags on critical loads dynamically. The DVR consists of VSC, injection transformers, passive filters and energy storage (lead acid battery). By injecting an appropriate voltage, the DVR restores a voltage waveform and ensures constant load voltage. There were so many types of the control … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2010 · 8,136 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractField Programmable Gate Array-Based Pulse-Width Modulation for Single Phase Active Power FilterN. A. Rahim, Z. IslamProblem statement: The design and implementation of a sinusoidal Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) generator for a single-phase hybrid power filter is presented. Approach: The PWM was developed in an Altera® Flex 10 K Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and the modulation index was selected by calculating the DC bus voltage of the active filter through a digital controller, by Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2009 · 7,293 accessesView PDFCite
