Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLink Stability and Node Energy Conscious Local Route-Repair Scheme for Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksAnuradha Banerjee, Paramartha DuttaProblem statement: A mobile ad hoc network is a self-configuring network of mobile nodes connected by wireless links. As the nodes are free to move randomly, topology of the network may change rapidly and unpredictably. As a result, intermediate nodes in the communication routes tend to lose connection with each other during the communication process. In order to repair a … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 6,862 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIndividual Species Crown Mapping in Taman Rimba Ilmu, University Malaya Using Airborne Hyperspectral ImagingKamaruzaman JusoffProblem statement: Accurate, current and cost-effective individual standing tree data are required by forest management communities for use in forest inventory over large areas. Currently, most of the forest mapping process is done directly on the ground using many technique such as the bearing-distance and also the other technique that use the computer software as a support, such as Tree … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2010 · 7,822 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Framework for Group Key Management Protocol Assessment Independent of View SynchronyDavid Manz, Paul Oman, Jim Alves-FossProblem statement: As group key management extended into the area of large dynamic networks, complex issues emerged involving the many operations that run over several network topologies. The issues that occurred due to multiple topologies were also compounded by differing views of the network, taken at different time slices or positions within the network. This was especially complex when figuring … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 6,946 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAcceptance and Use of Strategic Processes in Developing CountriesAlev M. Efendioglu, A. Tugba KarabulutProblem statement: The concept of strategy has become a major process in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. These organizations have used the process to understand issues which they cannot control but have a significant impact on their success and use their limited resources and competencies to improve their competitive positions. The process was used in developed economies and primarily by businesses … …American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2009 · 7,310 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBinary Merge Coding for Lossless Image Data CompressionN. Subhash Chandra, M. Bala Raju, M. Arya bahanu et al.Problem statement: Image processing applications were drastically increasing over the years. In such a scenario, the fact that, the digital images need huge amounts of disk space seems to be a crippling disadvantage during transmission and storage. So, there arises a need for data compression of images. Approach: This study proposed a novel technique called binary merge coding for lossless … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 30 May 2009 · 6,864 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Enhancement of Underwater Target Tracking by Fusing Data of Array of Global Positioning System SonobuoysAhmed El-Shafie, Abdallah Osman, Aboelmagd Noureldin, Aini HussainProblem statement: An accurate knowledge of geographic positions of sonobuoys is critical for the conduct of antisubmarine warfare operations and detected target localization. Deployed from an airborne platform or a surface vessel, arrays of sonobuoys could be used to efficiently track and localize submarines. Lastly, some sonobuoys were being equipped with GPS for improving system accuracy and potentially allowing networked … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,475 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCompressive Load Resistance Characteristics of Rice GrainSumpun Chaitep, Chaiy Rungsiyakull, Pipatpong WatanawanyooInvestigation was made to observe the compressive load property of rice gain both rough rice and brown grain. Six rice varieties (indica and japonica) were examined with the moisture content at 10-12%. Compressive loads with reference to a principal axis normal to the thickness of the grain were conducted at selected inclined angles of 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60° and … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2008 · 8,184 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Image Component Transmission Approach to Improve Image Quality and Energy Efficiency in Wireless Sensor NetworksWei Wang, Dongming Peng, Honggang Wang, Hamid SharifDue to resource constraints, digital image transmissions are a significant challenge for image sensor based Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). In this paper, we propose a novel robust and energy-efficient scheme, called Image Component Transmission (ICT) in WSN by providing various levels of reliability during image transmissions. Different components in the embedded wavelet image bit stream are considered and essential components … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 5 · 31 May 2007 · 7,252 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBlockade for Career Advancement in Japanese Organization Abroad: The Case of Malaysian SubsidiariesRaduan Che Rose, Naresh KumarThis study empirically examines the significance of demographic factors and organizational characteristics in influencing the perceived barriers to career advancement of local managers in Japanese subsidiaries. Moreover, significant relationship between stereotype and discrimination and the number of local managers in higher management positions also been analyzed. The perceived barriers were examined through an analysis of 317 local managers working in … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 30 Apr 2007 · 6,973 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHyperspectral Remote Sensing of Vegetation Using Red Edge Position TechniquesHelmi Zulhaidi Mohd Shafri, Mohamad Amran Mohd Salleh, Azadeh GhiyamatTwo red edge position (REP) techniques, Linear and Lagrangian, were applied on hyperspectral data acquired from the HyMap sensor for a forested area in Thetford Forest, UK. Red edge positions of different vegetation covers were extracted with the two approaches from the hyperspectral data. Based on the estimated REPs, the Linear and Lagrangian interpolation methods were compared with ground reference … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 6 · 17 Jun 2006 · 8,111 accessesView PDFCite
