Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomating the Mapping Process of Traditional Malay Textile Knowledge Model with the Core OntologySyerina Azlin Md Nasir, Nor Laila Md NoorProblem statement: The wave of ontology has spread drastically in the cultural heritage domain. The impact can be seen from the growing number of cultural heritage web information systems, available textile ontology and harmonization works with the core ontology, CIDOC CRM. The aim of this study is to provide a base for common views in automating the process of mapping … …American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2011 · 7,624 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractTwo Source Emission Behavior of Helium Projectile Fragments in 84Kr Interactions at Around 1 GeV per nucleonManoj Kumar Singh, Arun Kumar Soma, Ramji Pathak et al.Problem statement: The emission of helium projectile fragments has been studied in 84Kr interactions with nuclei of the nuclear emulsion detector at relativistic energies below 2 GeV per nucleon. Approach: The angular distribution of helium projectile fragments in terms of transverse momentum could not be explained by a straight and clean-cut collision geometry hypothesis of Participant-Spectator (PS) Model. Results: Therefore, … …Physics International, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 31 Dec 2010 · 6,800 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSeasonal Variation of Soil Resistivity and Soil Temperature in Bayelsa StateJohn Tarilanyo Afa, C. M. AnaeleProblem statement: Due to the climatic variation for the year and it's sever harmattan during the month of December to March with the high keraunic level (80-90) in the areas, it was necessary to know the seasonal variation of soil resistivity. The seasonal variation and the nature of soil have considerable influence on electrical characteristics and therefore affect the earthling … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 4 · 5 Nov 2010 · 8,730 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractArm Movement RecorderJakkrapun Chuanasa, Szathys SongschonProblem statement: Human arm movement is widely studied nowadays. Some movements of arm are performed frequently in everyday life. Devices that can record the path of movement are important in studying human arm gesture. Approach: This project was performed the five degree-of-freedom exoskeleton that was designed and constructed to observe position and orientation values of various movement in x-y-z coordinates … …Energy Research Journal, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 31 Oct 2010 · 7,765 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMining Sequential Access Pattern with Low Support From Large Pre-Processed Web LogsS. Vijayalakshmi, V. MohanProblem statement: To find frequently occurring Sequential patterns from web log file on the basis of minimum support provided. We introduced an efficient strategy for discovering Web usage mining is the application of sequential pattern mining techniques to discover usage patterns from Web data, in order to understand and better serve the needs of Web-based applications. Approach: The approaches adopt … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 11 · 23 Oct 2010 · 7,229 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBioethanol Production from Rice StrawNutawan Yoswathana, Phattayawadee Phuriphipat, Pattranit Treyawutthiwat, Mohammad Naghi EshtiaghiProblem statement: Rice straw has been treated with different chemical (acid, alkali) and physical (subcritical water, ultrasound) methods to convert lignocellulose material to sugar. In addition enzyme treatment of pretreated samples has been applied to improve the conversion of lignocellulose material in sugar. Approach: Sulfuric acid at concentration of 1-9% was applied for acid treatment. For alkali treatment was sodium … …Energy Research Journal, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 30 Jun 2010 · 18,065 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractProgressive Content-Sensitive Data Retrieval in Sensor NetworksBo Yang, Manohar MareboyanaProblem statement: For a sensor network comprising autonomous and self-organizing data sources, efficient similarity-based search for semantic-rich resources (such as video data) has been considered as a challenging task due to the lack of infrastructures and the multiple limitations (such as band-width, storage and energy). While the past research discussed much on routing protocols for sensor networks, few works have … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2009 · 6,849 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImpact of University Budget Cuts on the Local Economy: Case for a Regional UniversityKalyan ChakrabortyProblem statement: Considering the economic downturn and state-wide revenue shortfall almost all of the states have reduced their spending on higher education. The problem addressed in this study was to assess the economic impact of university budget reductions on the local and state economy of Kansas. Approach: The study used regional multipliers from an input-output model developed by Bureau of … …American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2009 · 7,389 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBinary Merge Coding for Lossless Image Data CompressionN. Subhash Chandra, M. Bala Raju, M. Arya bahanu et al.Problem statement: Image processing applications were drastically increasing over the years. In such a scenario, the fact that, the digital images need huge amounts of disk space seems to be a crippling disadvantage during transmission and storage. So, there arises a need for data compression of images. Approach: This study proposed a novel technique called binary merge coding for lossless … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 30 May 2009 · 6,864 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Role of Pioneer Vegetations in Accelerating The Process of Natural SuccessionNormaniza Osman, Faisal Haji Ali, Syed Shahar BarakbahProblem Statement: Even though bioengineering technique has been regarded as one way to alleviate landslide and erosion problems, this process of revegetation is severely time consuming as the process of plant succession of the slopes may take decades or even hundreds of years. Approach: However, the process can be tremendously hastened by planting the right suitable pioneer species on the … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 28 Feb 2009 · 7,429 accessesView PDFCite
