Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractNOVEL IMAGE-DEPENDENT QUALITY ASSESSMENT MEASURESZahir M. Hussain, Asaad Noori HashimThe image is a 2D signal whose pixels are highly correlated in a 2D manner. Hence, using pixel by pixel error what we called previously Mean-Square Error, (MSE) is not an efficient way to compare two similar images (e.g., an original image and a compressed version of it). Due to this correlation, image comparison needs a correlative quality measure. It … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 8 · 27 Feb 2014 · 7,434 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA NOVELTY APPROACH OF SPATIAL CO-OCCURRENCE AND DISCRETE SHEARLET TRANSFORM BASED TEXTURE CLASSIFICATION USING LPBOOSTING CLASSIFIERC. Vivek, S. AudithanRecently, the research towards Brodatz database for texture classification done at considerable amount of study has been published, the effective classification are vulnerable towards for training and test sets. This study presents the novel texture classification method based on feature descriptor, called spatial co-occurrence with discrete shearlet transformation through the LPboosting classification. It can be considered as a frame through … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 5 · 11 Jan 2014 · 6,602 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA COMPARISION OF VARIOUS EDGE DETECTION TECHNIQUES IN MOTION PICTURE FOR IDENTIFYING A SHARK FISHShrivakshan Gopal Thiruvangadan, Chelliah ChandrasekarThe significant feature of detecting the motion image objects in this study it try identify the shark fish videos by removing the Background of the image. The main method involved in the detecting from the background is the foreground detection of the image. There are many techniques which usually ignore the fact that the background images consist of different image … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 11 · 18 Sep 2013 · 6,691 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractComputer Machine Vision Inspection on Printed Circuit Boards Flux DefectsAng TeohOng, Zulkifilie Bin Ibrahim, Suzaimah RamliThe new visual inspection systems techniques using real time machine vision replace the human visual manual inspection on PCB flux defects, which brings harmful effects on the board which may come in the form of corrosion and can cause harm to the assembly. In short, it brings improvement in Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) production quality, principally concerning the acceptance or … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 28 Aug 2013 · 7,955 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance, Analysis of Filtering Schedule Using Deblocking Filter for the Reduction of Block Artifacts from MPEQ Compressed Document ImagesM. Anto Bennet, I. Jacob RaglendProblem statement: The visual effects of blocking artifacts can be reduce by using deblocking filter. Also with out smoothing the natural edges, the perceived quality of video sequence can be enchanced. This study propose a method to remove blocking artifacts in low bit-rate block based video coding. Approach: The proposed algorithm has two separate filtering modes, which are selected by pixel … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 9 · 8 Aug 2012 · 7,264 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Evaluation of Thermal Imaging Based Respiration Rate Monitoring in ChildrenFarah AL-Khalidi, Reza Saatchi, Heather Elphick, Derek BurkeProblem statement: An important indicator of an individual’s health is respiration rate. It is the average number of times air is inhaled and exhaled per minute. Existing respiration monitoring methods require an instrument to be attached to the patient’s body during the recording. This is a discomfort to the patient and the instrument can be dislodged from its position. Approach: … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 31 Jul 2012 · 10,531 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUsing Multi-Scale Filtering to Initialize a Background Extraction ModelS. H. Davarpanah, Fatimah Khalid, N. A. Lili et al.Problem statement: Probability-based methods which usually work based on the saved history of each pixel are utilized severally in extracting a background image for moving detection systems. Probability-based methods suffer from a lack of information when the system first begins to work. The model should be initialized using an alternative accurate method. Approach: The use of a nonparametric filtering to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 7 · 24 May 2012 · 7,276 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Effective History-based Background Extraction SystemSeyed Hashem Davarpanah, Fatimah Khalid, Maryam GolchinProblem statement: In many visions-based surveillance systems, the first step is accomplished by detecting moving objects resulted from subtraction of the current captured frame from the extracted background. So, the results of these systems mainly depend on the accuracy of the background image. Approach: In this study, a proposed background extraction system is presented to model the background using a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 7 · 23 May 2012 · 6,998 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSingle Step Optimal Block Matched Motion Estimation with Motion Vectors Having Arbitrary Pixel PrecisionsCharlotte Yuk-Fan Ho, Bingo Wing-Kuen Ling, Saverio Giovanni Blasi et al.Problem statement: This study derives the optimal motion vector with arbitrary pixel precisions in a single step. Approach: A non-linear block matched motion model was proposed. Based on the proposed non-linear block matched motion model, the optimal motion vector which minimizes the mean square error was solved analytically in a single step via a gradient approach. Results: The mean square … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 12 Jan 2012 · 8,201 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractObject Recognition Based on Image Segmentation and ClusteringS. Thilagamani, N. ShanthiProblem statement: This study deals with object recognition based on image segmentation and clustering. Acquiring prior information of an image is done via two separate processes. Approach: The first process deals with detecting object parts of an image and integration of detected parts into several clusters. All these cluster centers form the visual words. The second process deals with over … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 11 · 6 Sep 2011 · 7,074 accessesView PDFCite
