Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAn Optimal Rate Adjustment Algorithm for Medium Access Control Protocol in 802.11 Multi Hop Ad Hoc NetworksT. Ravichandran, K. SaravananProblem statement: Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol plays an important role in providing a fair and efficient allocation of limited bandwidth in wireless LANs. In IEEE 802.11 standard protocol, data rate selection is not specified. Rate control is the process of switching data rates dynamically based on channel conditions, with the target of selecting the rate that will provide the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 7 · 9 Jun 2012 · 7,023 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleEfficient Broadcasting in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using Context Aware Adaptive Routing Protocol during Network PartitionsS. V.M.G. Bavithiraja, R. RadhakrishnanProblem statement: In mobile ado network, broadcasting is a common operation for route establishment and for sending control and emergency messages. Reliable Broadcasting in mobile ad hoc networks requires delivery of messages from different sources to all the nodes of the network within bounded time. The nodes are highly mobile and the network is highly dynamic and decentralized. Most of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 28 Feb 2012 · 6,461 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleCongestion Control in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks by Enhancement of Transmission Control ProtocolN. Premalatha, A. M. NatarajanProblem statement: Transmission Control Protocol is the Internet’s most widely used transport control protocol. TCP’s strength lies in the adaptive nature of its congestion avoidance and control algorithm and its retransmission mechanism. In TCP Vegas rerouting (a path), which change the propagation delay of the connection and this may be able to result in a substantial decrease in through put. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 17 Oct 2011 · 6,688 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAcknowledgment based Reputation Mechanism to Mitigate the Node Misbehavior in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksK. Gopalakrishnan, V. Rhymend UthariarajProblem statement: The cooperation between the nodes is essential to discover and maintain routes in mobile ad hoc network. Due to the presence of misbehaving nodes, the node cooperation is not always guaranteed as the nodes agreed during the route discovery phase. This phenomenon results in frequent network partitioning and it makes the routing process difficult. It also degrades the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 14 Jul 2011 · 6,567 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleMisbehaving Node Detection in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks using Multi Hop Acknowledgement SchemeUsha Sakthivel, S. RadhaProblem statement: For any node in a Mobile Ad hoc Network conservation of battery power and bandwidth are the priority. Hence, they try to reduce the overload they would otherwise incur when they forward packets. This selfish behavior of a node affects the throughput of the network. The nodes may also choose a back off value of shorter duration. These … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 6,712 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAuthentication Based and Optimized Routing Technique in Mobile Ad hoc NetworksS. Varadhaganapathy, A. M. Natarajan, S. N. SivanandamProblem statement: An Ad hoc network has been defined as a self-organizing, dynamic topology network formed by a group of wireless mobile nodes. Minimal configuration, absence of infrastructure and quick deployment, would make ad hoc networks convenient for emergency situations other than military applications. In recent years, security in Ad hoc Networks as a research topic had started to receive … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 6,903 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAn Improved Location aided Cluster Based Routing Protocol with Intrusion Detection System in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksS. Mangai, A. TamilarasiProblem statement: Routing and security are the main challenges for ad hoc networks due to dynamic topology as well as resource constraints. A designed protocol must provide scalable routing with better security. Lack of any central coordination and shared wireless medium makes them more vulnerable to attacks than wired networks. And also resource constraints such as limited energy and size … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 7,103 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleLink Stability and Node Energy Conscious Local Route-Repair Scheme for Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksAnuradha Banerjee, Paramartha DuttaProblem statement: A mobile ad hoc network is a self-configuring network of mobile nodes connected by wireless links. As the nodes are free to move randomly, topology of the network may change rapidly and unpredictably. As a result, intermediate nodes in the communication routes tend to lose connection with each other during the communication process. In order to repair a … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2010 · 6,856 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleThe Design and Implementation of a Novel Skew Scenario Model in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksN. Vetrivelan, A. V. ReddyProblem statement: In this research, it had been presented a novel Skew Scenario Model that has been developed and implemented for mobile ad hoc networks. There exist several mobility patterns that try to capture the behavior of the mobile devices under different circumstances, whereas in our work, the direction movement of the nodes is significantly specified horizontally, vertically and diagonally … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2010 · 6,922 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleSafety Message Power Transmission Control for Vehicular Ad hoc NetworksGhassan Samara, Sureswaran Ramadas, Wafaa A.H. Al-SalihyProblem statement: Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET) is one of the most challenging research area in the field of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. Approach: In this research we proposed a dynamic power adjustment protocol that will be used for sending the periodical safety message. (Beacon) based on the analysis of the channel status depending on the channel congestion and the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 10 · 30 Jul 2010 · 7,468 accessesView PDFCite
