Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAn Optimization of Design for S4-Duty Induction Motor Using Constraints Normalization Based Violation TechniqueR. Subramanian, S. N. Sivanandam, C. VimalaraniProblem statement: Design of Induction motors is an engineering art and needs an extensive experience for obtaining an optimal design solution for a given design problem. An optimized GD2 value for the development of S4 Duty, cage induction motor to meet the specifications of a particular designated application (the location of application is kept as trade secret due to IP … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2010 · 7,064 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleUsing an Adaptative Fuzzy-Logic System to Optimize the Performances and the Reduction of Chattering Phenomenon in the Control of Induction MotorM. M. Krishan, L. Barazane, A. KhwaldehProblem statement: Neural networks and fuzzy inference systems are becoming well-recognized tools of designing an identifier/controller capable of perceiving the operating environment and imitating a human operator with high performance. Also, by combining these two features, more versatile and robust models, called “neuro-fuzzy” architectures have been developed. The mo Approach: Motivation behind the use of neuro-fuzzy approaches was based on … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,526 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleRelationship between Affordances in the Home Environment and Motor Development in Children Age 18-42 MonthsAlireza Haydari, Parviz Askari, Maryam Zarra NezhadProblem statement: Environmental stimulation plays a critical role in optimal human development during the early stages of life and an optimal level (of development) occurs with strong contextual support. It is well accepted among develop mentalists that motor-perceptual-and cognitive development are fundamentally interrelated. This suggests that status of motor development is an important factor in overall child well-being. The objectives … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2009 · 9,631 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleMathematical Modeling of the Three Phase Induction Motor Couple to DC Motor in Hybrid Electric VehicleZulkarnain Lubis, A. N. Abdalla, Mortaza, Ruzlaini GhonProblem statement: With emphasis on a cleaner environment and efficient operation, vehicles today rely more and more heavily on electrical power generation for success. Approach: Mathematical modeling the components of the HEV as the three phase induction motor couple to DC motor in hybrid electric vehicle was introduced. The controller of Induction Motor (IM) was designed based on input-output feedback … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2009 · 8,315 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleVoltage Sag Effects on the Process Continuity of a Refinery with Induction Motors LoadsTarek I. ElShennawy, Mahmoud A. El-Gammal, Amr Y. Abou-GhazalaProblem statement: Process continuity of industrial plants (like a refinery) is subjected to several shutdowns due to voltage sags causing large induction motors to trip, either by undervoltage or by overcurrent relays, sometimes by the mechanical protection. These unplanned shutdowns cost the plant tens of thousands of dollars per shutdown in addition to material damage costs, restart charges and any … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 8 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,132 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleOptimization of the Performance of Single-Phase Capacitor-Run Induction MotorMahdi Salman AlshamasinThe aim of the study was to suggest optimal solution for the impact of harmonics on the performance of Capacitor-Run Motor (CRM), the most commonly used single-phase motor. Therefore, investigations were carried out over the entire slip from no-load condition up to the locked-rotor condition, for harmonics of various orders in the case of using Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) speed control. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2009 · 7,483 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleReduced Order Models of a Current Source Inverter Induction Motor DriveIbrahim K. Al-AbbasProblem Statement: The current source inverter induction motor (CSI-IM) drive was widely used in various industries. The main disadvantage of this drive was nonlinearity and complexity. This work was done to develop a simple drive systems models. Approach: The MATLAB/SIMULINK software was used for system modeling. Three reduced models were developed by choosing specific frame, neglecting stator transients and ignoring … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,869 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Sliding Mode Speed Control of an Induction MotorKais Jamoussi, Mohamed Ouali, Hassen CharradiField-oriented control was combined to robust sliding mode for motor speed control. A smooth continuous function was added in order to overcome chattering caused by Sliding Mode Controller (SMC). Simulation results showed that improvement made by our approach compared to classical PID control. …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2007 · 7,554 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleInduction Motor Flux Estimation using Nonlinear Sliding ObserversHakiki Khalid, Mazari Benyounès, Djaber Sid’AhmedA nonlinear sliding flux was proposed for an induction motor. Its dynamic observation errors converge asymptotically to zero, independently from the inputs. The aim of this work was to study the robustness of this observer with respect to the variation of the rotor resistance known to be a crucial parameter for the control. The dynamic performance of this sliding observer … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 3, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2007 · 6,798 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEffects of Low Frequencies on Three Phase Induction Motor Performance Operating in Close Proximity to Rated SpeedQazem Jaber, Qais Naman, Mahdi ShamaseenVariable speed drives (VSD) are adhered to induction motors in most of the present industrial applications. And since the world has become more conscientious to energy saving, inverters established them selves in domestic buildings and industry. Square wave inverters generate dominant harmonics of the 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th order. Inverters based on PWM strategy produce much higher harmonic order … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 5 · 31 May 2007 · 7,519 accessesView PDFCite
