Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Analysis of IEEE 802.16d using Forward Error CorrectionVenkatesh Sekar, V. Palanisamy, K. BaskaranProblem statement: Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is the broadband wireless technology for terrestrial broadcast services in Metropolitan Area Networks. This BWA technology is based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) technology and considers the radio frequency range up to 2-11 GHz and 10-66 GHz. The objective of this research work is the performance analysis of AWGN, SUI-1 and SUI-2 … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 9 Mar 2011 · 7,343 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Disruption-Tolerant Model for Building a Mobile Application Using Web ServiceMaryati Mohd. Yusof, Mansor Omar, Zarina ShukurProblem statement: The emerging technology in broadband telecommunication and mobile devices has increased the use of mobile applications. However, the use of mobile application is affected with low bandwidth or disrupted broadband telecommunication due to building blockage or out of coverage area. Approach: We proposed a Disruption-Tolerant Mobile Application Model (DTMA) that enables remote data access and overcomes constraint due … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 12 · 1 Dec 2010 · 7,224 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDelay Analysis and System Capacity Control for Mobile WiMAX Relay NetworksAnas F. Bayan, Tat-Chee Wan, Sureswaran RamadassProblem statement: WiMAX relay is an emerging cost effective wireless last mile solution for rural and urban broadband Internet access. Approach: One of the key concerns of WiMAX operators is how many users they can support for an access area where the number of users and the amount of data that can be delivered to the end user depends on … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 10 · 5 Aug 2010 · 7,430 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMobile Phone Base Station Radiation Study for Addressing Public ConcernAiman Ismail, Norashidah Md Din, Md Zaini Jamaludin, Nagaletchumi BalasubramaniamProblem statement: The proliferation of mobile phone base stations had increased concerns from the public on the radio frequency radiation hazards that might come from them. The world wide public concern involved health risk due to radio frequency radiation. In Malaysia also public interest has increased, although it is not as intense as probably in other parts of the world, … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2010 · 8,725 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractNoise Control Using Coconut Coir Fiber Sound Absorber with Porous Layer Backing and Perforated PanelRozli Zulkifli, Zulkarnain, Mohd Jailani Mohd NorProblem statement: Noise control was one of the major requirements to improve the living environment. One of the methods to do that is provided by sound absorber. Commonly, multi-layer sound absorbers are applied to absorb broadband noise that was composed of perforated plates, air space and porous material. However, multi-layers sound absorbers effectiveness depends on their construction. This study was … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2010 · 14,716 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractUnequally Error Protected Wireless Data Transmission Using Channel State Information and Adaptive EncodersYaseen H. Tahir, Chee Kyun Ng, N. K. Noordin et al.Problem statement: Higher data transmission rate with Quality of Services (QoS) guarantee is an important objective for wireless broadband communication systems. Unlike other communication system, real-time transmission requires high data rate and good error performance to ensure good quality of service. This study describes the design problem of real-time wireless data transmission which provides higher achievable data rate with Unequal … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 7,255 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIntegration of Electrical and Electromagnetic Investigation for Contaminated SiteAlberto Godio, Mario NaldiProblem statement: The environmental assessment of industrial areas is required to minimize the risk of soil and groundwater contamination. The survey of wide areas (e.g., some hectares) provides a high economical and complex logistical impact when random strategies of soil sampling are adopted. Recently, geophysical methods had been successfully adopted to drive the process of the spatial sampling of the … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 31 Aug 2009 · 7,168 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSugarcane Phenological Date Estimation Using Broad-Band Digital CamerasMobasheri, M. Chahardoli, J. Jokar, M. FarajzadehIn the agricultural industry, precision farming is the most important task that attracts lots of attentions. The health of the plant depends mostly on the amount of water in its access that can be estimated through vegetation indices. These indices can be extracted from satellite images through Image processing algorithms. The objective of this research was to provide an equation … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2008 · 7,962 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA 4⨯1 L-probe fed Inverted Hybrid E-H Microstrip Patch Antenna Array for 3G ApplicationMohammad Tariqul Islam, Norbahiah Misran, Ng Kok JiunnThis paper presents a compact and broadband microstrip patch antenna array (BMPAA) with uniform linear array configuration of 4x1 element for 3G applications. The 4⨯1 BMPAA was designed and developed by integrating new patch shape Hybrid E-H shape, L-probe feeding, inverted patch structure with air filled dielectric microstrip patch antenna (MPA) element.
