Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA New Robust Hybrid Approach to Enhance Speech in Mobile Communication SystemsManimegalai Govindan Sumithra, Keppana Gounder Thanuskodi, Bharathi DeepaProblem statement: The received voice signal in mobile communication is often disturbed by background noise and hence there is a need for good noise reduction methods for enhancing Speech. It is well known that denoising is a compromise between the removal of the largest possible amount of noise and the preservation of signal integrity. To address this issue, a new … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 4 · 18 Apr 2011 · 7,299 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsClient Device Based Content Adaptation Using Rule BaseVelammal, Anandha KumarProblem statement: Content adaptation have been playing an important role in mobile devices, wherein the content display differs from desktop computers in many aspects, such as display screens, processing power, network connection bandwidth. In order to display web contents appropriately on mobile devices and on other types of devices such as hand computers, PDAs, Smart phones, it is important to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 22 Oct 2011 · 6,786 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Dynamic Resource Synchronizer Mutual Exclusion Algorithm for Wired/Wireless Distributed SystemsAhmed Sharieh, Mariam Itriq, Wafa DbabatA mobile host has small memory, relatively slow processor, low power batteries, and communicate over low bandwidth wireless communication links. Existing mutual exclusion algorithms for distributed systems are not enough for mobile systems because of several limitations. In this study, a mutual exclusion algorithm that is more suitable for mobile computer systems is developed. The algorithm tends to minimize the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 7,161 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAssessing Students' Perceptions of Mobile Applications Usability using System Usability ScaleMohammed Hameed AfifThe purpose of this study is to explore the usability level of the mobile application from the perspectives of students at higher education institutes by using the most used measure of perceived usability, namely, the System Usability Scale (SUS). Furthermore, the study investigated the effect of some of the students’ demographic attributes on mobile application usability. Results revealed that the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 19, Issue 1 · 3 Jan 2023 · 7,893 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsProviding Fairness to Mobile Workforces in an Automated Task Allocation Process: A Semantic Multi-agent ApproachArash Mousavi, Riza Sulaiman, Md. Jan Nordin et al.Problem statement: Mobile Workforces (MW) unlike computational resources of an automated system are active but not passive entities. Therefore, an automated resource allocation system that deals with MWs should assign tasks to them fairly and in a comparatively equal manner. An unfair task allocation in a group will cause dissatisfaction, which in turn demotivates MWs who are supposed to work … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 16 May 2012 · 7,003 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Framework for .NET Mobile-Based Application ServicesYousif AlBastakiProblem statement: This study presents a .NET framework in the form of a course registration system, which is designed to facilitate the process of registration of courses at any educational institute. Approach: The study outlines the main concepts related to the analysis and design methodologies that had been applied. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Novel Routing Protocol with High Energy Performance in Mobile Special NetworksAli Norouzi, B. Berk UstundagProblem statement: Mobile Special Networks do not have a predetermined structure. This type of networks can dynamically reorganize network connection relationships due to change of neighborhoods and the relative positions. Approach: There are many problems in creation of a special network such as routing, wireless media, energy consumption and transportability. Results: Although these networks primarily had been formed for small … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 15 Jan 2011 · 7,304 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Framework for Distributed Dynamic Load Balancing in Heterogeneous ClusterNeeraj Nehra, R. B. Patel, V. K. BhatDistributed Dynamic load balancing (DDLB) is an important system function destined to distribute workload among available processors to improve throughput and/or execution times of parallel computer in Cluster Computing. Instead of balancing the load in cluster by process migration, or by moving an entire process to a less loaded computer, we make an attempt to balance load by splitting processes … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2007 · 8,725 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Survey of Intrusion Detection Schemes in Wireless Sensor NetworksMurad A. Rassam, M. A. Maarof, Anazida ZainalWireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are currently used in many application areas including military applications, health related applications, control and tracking applications and environment and habitat monitoring applications. The harsh and unattended deployment of these networks along with their resource restrictions makes their security issue very important. Prevention-based security approaches like cryptography, authentication and key management have been used to protect … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 10 · 17 Aug 2012 · 8,733 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsRemote Personal Tracking System (RPTS)Abdfatah A. Yahya, Mahmoud Z. IskandaraniA novel system for remote tracking of personnel was proposed. The system was based on assuring that the moving tracked code belongs to the actual person assigned such a code by smelling and temperature measuring the person who holds such a device. The system would operate using a specific RF signal and allows for an accurate, economic and secure environment … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2006 · 7,691 accessesView PDFCite
