Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleCOMPARING THE PERFORMANCE OF SEMANTIC IMAGE RETRIEVAL USING SPARQL QUERY, DECISION TREE ALGORITHM AND LIREMagesh, ThangarajThe ontology based framework is developed for representing image domain. The textual features of images are extracted and annotated as the part of the ontology. The ontology is represented in Web Ontology Language (OWL) format which is based on Resource Description Framework (RDF) and Resource Description Framework Schema (RDFS). Internally, the RDF statements represent an RDF graph which provides the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 8 Jul 2013 · 6,705 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHybrid Exponential Particle Swarm Optimization K-Means Algorithm for Efficient Image SegmentationK. M. Murugesan, S. PalaniswamiThe introduction of unsupervised learning techniques like K-means inside the domain of Image Processing plays a vital role in Image Segmentation. The hybridization of this Algorithm by using Swarm Intelligent techniques further more improves the efficiency. Various works on hybridization of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) with K-means have been proposed and are found to be efficient in Image Segmentation. However, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 11 · 25 Oct 2012 · 7,141 accessesView PDFCite

R. ChandranProblem statement: Recently, there has been a huge progress in collection of varied image databases in the form of digital. Most of the users found it difficult to search and retrieve required images in large collections. In order to provide an effective and efficient search engine tool, the system has been implemented. In image retrieval system, there is no methodologies … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 7 · 24 May 2012 · 7,448 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleImage Compression Algorithms Using Intensity Based Adaptive Quantization CodingSaad Al-Azawi, Said Boussakta, Alex YakovlevProblem statement: Low complexity image compression algorithms are necessary for modern portable devices such as mobile phones, wireless sensor networks and high constraint power consumption devices. In such applications low bit rate along with an acceptable image quality are an essential requirements. Approach: This study proposes low and moderate complexity algorithms for colour image compression. Two algorithms will be presented; … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 18 Jan 2012 · 8,496 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSegmentation of Medical Image using Clustering and Watershed AlgorithmsM.C. Jobin Christ, R.M.S. ParvathiProblem statement: Segmentation plays an important role in medical imaging. Segmentation of an image is the division or separation of the image into dissimilar regions of similar attribute. In this study we proposed a methodology that integrates clustering algorithm and marker controlled watershed segmentation algorithm for medical image segmentation. The use of the conservative watershed algorithm for medical image analysis … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 22 Oct 2011 · 8,780 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDermoscopic Image Segmentation using Machine Learning AlgorithmL. Padma Suresh, K.L. Shunmuganathan, S.H. Krishna VeniProblem statement: Malignant melanoma is the most frequent type of skin cancer. Its incidence has been rapidly increasing over the last few decades. Medical image segmentation is the most essential and crucial process in order to facilitate the characterization and visualization of the structure of interest in medical images. Approach: This study explains the task of segmenting skin lesions in … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 11 · 7 Oct 2011 · 7,342 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleImproving the Performance of Machine Learning Based Multi Attribute Face Recognition Algorithm Using Wavelet Based Image Decomposition TechniqueS. Sakthivel, M. RajaramProblem statement: Recognizing a face based attributes is an easy task for a human to perform; it is closely automated and requires little mental effort. A computer, on the other hand, has no innate ability to recognize a face or a facial feature and must be programmed with an algorithm to do so. Generally, to recognize a face, different kinds … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 7 Mar 2011 · 6,907 accessesView PDFCite

Ramesh, Dr. A. ShanmugamProblem statement: The performance of the watermarking algorithms is analyzed using different compression standards to study the watermark extraction behavior of these algorithms. Approach: A digital watermarking method is said to be effective if the watermark embedded in an image by it could survive against diverse attacks ranging from compression, filtering to cropping. Several techniques are presented in the literature … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2011 · 7,680 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleModified Curvelet Thresholding Algorithm for Image DenoisingAl-Dahoud Ali, Preety D. Swami, J. SinghaiProblem statement: This study introduced an adaptive thresholding method for removing additive white Gaussian noise from digital images. Approach: Curvelet transform employed in the proposed scheme provides sparse decomposition as compared to the wavelet transform methods which being nongeometrical lack sparsity and fail to show optimal rate of convergence. Results: Different behaviors of curvelet transform maxima of image and noise … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,255 accessesView PDFCite
