Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEvaluating Plant Species Suitability for a Substrate-Free Tropical Green RoofBruno R. Silva, André Mantovani, Dulce G. Mantuano et al.Greenroofs reduce building exterior-interior thermal flux and mitigate high internal air temperatures, especially in tropical climates. Tropical greenroofs are given little attention and their use remains restricted to a very low percentage of roofs due to high costs compared to traditional roofs, weight overload (mainly due to the chosen substrate) and potential waterproofing problems. We here present an alternative greenroof … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 18, Issue 4 · 11 Oct 2018 · 7,523 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLOW COMPLEXITY CONSTRAINTS FOR ENERGY AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT OF HETEROGENEOUS MULTICORE PROCESSORS USING DYNAMIC OPTIMIZATIONA. S. Radhamani, E. BaburajOptimization in multicore processor environment is significant in real world dynamic applications, as it is crucial to find and track the change effectively over time, which requires an optimization algorithm. In massively parallel processing multicore processor architectures, like other population based metaheuristics Constraint based Bacterial Foraging Particle Swarm Optimization (CBFPSO) scheduling can be effectively implemented. In this study we discuss … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 8 · 3 Apr 2014 · 6,645 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSoft Computing in Optimizing Assembly Lines BalancingMuhammad Zaini Matondang, Muhammad Ikhwan JambakAs part of manufacturing systems, the assembly line has become one of the most valuable researches to accomplish the real world problems related to them. Many efforts have been made to seek the best techniques in optimizing assembly lines. Problem statement: Since it was published by Salveson in 1955, some methods and techniques have been developed based on mathematical modeling. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2010 · 7,469 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPersonal and Psychological Factors-Does it Impact the Choice of Advertising Medium?Izian Idris, Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, Ali KhatibiProblem statement: Advertising is a multidimensional phenomenon that has been studied in several disciplines. It is one of the most fascinating phenomena in modern capitalist markets. It is pervasive, perplexing, multidimensional and unfathomably rich. The effectiveness of advertising depends on both the quality of the product being advertised and the quality of the ad itself and also the media context … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2009 · 8,429 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Functionality of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor Compared to that of Foil GaugeBashir Ahmed Tahir, Jalil Ali, Rosly Abdul RahmanTechnology such as Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors are widely accepted in almost all industries. FBG are being investigated for their applicability in other markets such as smart structures. Fiber optic sensors can also be used in many different applications. Fiber optic sensors are available in several types; among them, the Bragg grating sensor is being studied in this research. … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2005 · 6,497 accessesView PDF Cite
