Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEffect of the Maximum Density Ratio Between Liquid and Vapor on Cavitating SimulationGuangjian Zhang, Weidong Shi, Ling Zhou, Desheng ZhangThe Filter-Based Model (FBM), which was built into CFX through CFX Expression Language (CEL) and a homogeneous cavitation model were employed to simulate cavitating flow around a 2D Clark-y hydrofoil. The effect of a maximum density ratio between liquid and vapor on sheet and cloud cavitating simulation was investigated. The results show that the maximum density ratio has a significant … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 21 Apr 2015 · 7,433 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleRural Population Density Effect on Socio-economic Characteristics: A ReviewAyoob K. Ismael, Ibrahim NgahProblem statement: Rural population density has a very significant independent influence over important demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the world rural communities. Thus, the understanding of rural population density becomes an important issue to be studied. Approach: Using the rural settled areas of Shaqlawa District as a case study, this study seeks to reveal the specific importance of rural population … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 24 Oct 2011 · 8,088 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleRelationship of Body Composition Parameters with Hip and Fore Arm Bone Mineral Density: An Indian PerspectiveK.B. Kishore Mohan, V. Sapthagirivasan, M. AnburajanProblem statement: The relationship between obesity and osteoporosis has been widely studied and epidemiological evidence shows that obesity is correlated with increased bone mass. Anthropometric factors such as body height and body weight which are related to body mass index should be considered. Approach: We measured whole body fat mass, fat free mass, muscle mass, Body water, percentage fat mass … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 2 · 5 Oct 2011 · 7,912 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleFrontal Arabic Fricative Consonants Characteristics among Primary School Children: Spectral Density Function ApproachNurul Ashikin Abdul-Kadir, Rubita SudirmanProblem statement: Arabic speech recognition system is un-developed until today. By using people of non-Arab nationality, the set of frontal fricative of Arabic consonants are study as the earlier step to develop the recognition system for Malaysian. As most of the developed Arabic speech recognition system for Malaysian are rarely found. Approach: The characteristic of each of the phonemes were … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 10 · 9 Aug 2011 · 7,175 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleWeighted Kernel Density Estimation of the Prepulse Inhibition TestHongbo Zhou, Qiang Cheng, Hong-Ju Yang, Haiyun XuProblem statement: The goal of this study was to devise a more reliable and sensitive method for analysis of experimental data of the Prepulse Inhibition (PPI), the reduction in startle reaction towards a startle-eliciting “pulse” stimulus when it is shortly preceded by a sub-threshold “prepulse” stimulus. Approach: Different from the conventional simple averaging-based method, we proposed a probabilistic approach to … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 7,222 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleInfluence of Seeding Rate on Weed Density in Soybean Planting System for Southeastern Coastal PlainsPawel Wiatrak, Guihua ChenProblem statement: Increasing seeding rates may help decrease weed pressure in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] wide row spacing. Approach: The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of five glyphosate-resistant soybean Maturity Groups (MG) (IV, V, VI, VII and VIII) and six seeding rates (68,000,136,000, 204,000, 272,000, 340,000 and 408,000 seeds ha-1) on weed density under dryland … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 25 Mar 2011 · 7,944 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleRecycled High-Density Polyethylene and Rice Husk as a Wetted Pad in Evaporative Cooling SystemNitipong Soponpongpipat, Sukum KositchaimongkolProblem statement: The low cost and easy-to-find materials, for being used as wetted pad of evaporative cooling system, are necessary for agriculture. This study, thus, studied the evaporative cooling efficiency and pressure drop of recycled High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and rice husk as a wetted pad in evaporative cooling system. Approach: The study was done by establishing the tested wetted pad … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2011 · 8,697 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDensity and Population Estimation of the Bornean Elephants (Elephas maximus borneensis) in SabahRaymond Alfred, Abd Hamid Ahmad, John Payne et al.Problem statement: In Asia, four elephant subspecies have been identified, Elephas maximus maximus from Sri Lanka, Elephas maximus summatranus from Sumatra, Elephas maximus borneensis (based on recent DNA analysis) from Borneo and Elephas maximus indicus, from mainland Asia. The Bornean elephant has a limited distribution and is found only in the northeastern part of the island, (Malaysian Sabah and Indonesian … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2010 · 20,197 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDensity Based Routing Algorithm for Spare/Dense Topologies in Wireless Mobile Ad-Hoc NetworksEssam Natsheh, Khalid BuraggaProblem statement: A Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) operate in environments without infrastructures with an undefined network size. Most routing protocols of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) were studied using open space models where nodes were able to move throughput the entire simulation area. However, a more realistic topology should account for restricted mobility of nodes, such as in an urban city … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 3, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2010 · 7,461 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleDensity Equation of Cassava-Stalk Briquettes Under Moderate Die-PressurePatomsok WilaiponProblem statement: Agricultural residues seem to be the most promising energy resources for developing countries. However, the majority of them have low energy density. One of the favorable technologies for enhancing that property is briquetting. For the case of Phitsanulok, a province in Northern Thailand, cassava is one of the most important crops. Therefore, a large amount of cassava stalk … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 31 May 2010 · 7,285 accessesView PDFCite
