Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Framework for Group Key Management Protocol Assessment Independent of View SynchronyDavid Manz, Paul Oman, Jim Alves-FossProblem statement: As group key management extended into the area of large dynamic networks, complex issues emerged involving the many operations that run over several network topologies. The issues that occurred due to multiple topologies were also compounded by differing views of the network, taken at different time slices or positions within the network. This was especially complex when figuring … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 6,942 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomated Position System Implementation over Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks in 2-Dimension SpaceSoumen Kanrar, Mohammad SirajProblem statement: The real world scenario have changed from the wired connection to wireless connection. Over the years software development has responded to the increasing growth of wireless connectivity in developing network enabled software. The problem arises in the wireless domain due to random packet loss in transport layer and as well as in data link layer for the end … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2010 · 7,191 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOptimal Power Multicast Problem in Wireless Mesh Networks by Using a Hybrid Particle Swarm OptimizationAllam Maalla, Chen Wei, Haitham J. TahaProblem statement: Most mobile nodes in a wireless ad hoc network are powered by energy limited batteries; the limited battery lifetime imposes a constraint on the network performance. Therefore, power consumption of network operations is critical and subject to optimization. Approach: A novel hybrid PSO was proposed for solving the minimum power multicast problem in wireless ad-hoc networks. The MPM … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2009 · 6,809 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Light-Weight Service Discovery Protocol for Ad Hoc NetworksRanwa Al Mallah, Alejandro QuinteroProblem statement: In mobile ad hoc networks devices do not rely on a fixed infrastructure and thus have to be self-organizing. This gives rise to various challenges to network applications. Existing service discovery protocols fall short of accommodating the complexities of the ad-hoc environment. However, the performance of distributed service discovery architectures that rely on a virtual backbone for locating … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2009 · 7,336 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLocal Beam Search Algorithm for Power Saving in Clustered Ad-Hoc NetworksA. Zabian, F. Al-KalaniAn ad-Hoc network is an infrastructures network consisting of mobile moving nodes. Every node in network performs as a router or a package forwarder. Energy consumption of network interfaces can be significant. There is a relationship between the transmission power and the distance traveled by a packet, increasing the transmission power increases the reachable area at the cost of high … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 10 · 31 Oct 2008 · 6,539 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDecreasing Overhead and Power Consuming in Ad-Hoc Networks by Proposal a Novel Routing AlgorithmA. Barati, A. Movaghar, H. Barati, A. Azizi MazreahAn Ad-Hoc network has been constructed from a fabric of mobile nodes intercom connected by temporary wireless links. Nodes located beyond a single hop are reached using intermediate neighbors to forward messages over long distances. The problem with this method of communication is that mobility causes the network topology to be unstable. Traditional solutions maintain routes by exchanging information when … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2008 · 6,800 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPerformance Comparison of Two On-demand Routing Protocols for Ad-hoc Networks based on Random Way Point Mobility ModelGeetha Jayakumar, G. GopinathAd hoc networks are characterized by multihop wireless connectivity, frequently changing network topology and the need for efficient dynamic routing protocols plays an important role. We compare the performance of two prominent on-demand routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks: Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), Ad Hoc On-demand distance Vector Routing (AODV). A detailed simulation model with MAC and physical layer … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2008 · 7,692 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPower Saving Mechanism in Clustered Ad-Hoc NetworksArwa Zabian, Ahmed IbrahimIn wireless Ad-Hoc networks, multihop transmission breaks the single hop path from a mobile node to another, into two or more hops, in a manner that the distances between transmitter and receiver are smaller than that in the direct transmission, which reduces the transmission power significantly. We have proposed the use of graph search algorithms to increase the power remaining … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 5 · 31 May 2008 · 7,117 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractArithmetic Encoding Based Dynamic Source Routing for Ad-Hoc NetworksAjay Koul, R. B. Patel, V. K. BhatAn ad hoc network is a collection of mobile stations forming a temporary network without the aid of any centralized coordinator. Routing messages are an essential component of Mobile Adhoc Networks, as each packet needs to be passed quickly through intermediate nodes from source to destination. Internal threats due to changes in the node behaviour that target the routing discovery … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 5 · 31 May 2008 · 6,604 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDynamic Head Cluster Election Algorithm for Clustered Ad-Hoc NetworksArwa Zabian, Ahmed Ibrahim, Fadi Al-KalaniIn distributed system, the concept of clustering consists on dividing the geographical area covered by a set of nodes into small zones. In mobile network, the clustering mechanism varied due to the mobility of the nodes any time in any direction. That causes the partitioning of the network or the joining of nodes. Several existing centralized or globalized algorithm have … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2008 · 7,430 accessesView PDFCite
