Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEffect of Hidden Layer Neurons on the Classification of Optical Character Recognition Typed Arabic NumeralsNidal F. Shilbayeh, Mahmoud Z. IskandaraniProblem statement: The effect of varying the number of nodes in the hidden layer and number of iterations are important factors in the recognition rate. In this paper, a novel and effective criterion based on Cross Pruning (CP) algorithm is proposed to optimize number of hidden neurons and number of iterations in Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) neural based recognition system. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 7,561 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Empirical Validation of Object-Oriented Design Metrics for Fault PredictionJie Xu, Danny Ho, Luiz F. CapretzProblem Statement: Object-oriented design has become a dominant method in software industry and many design metrics of object-oriented programs have been proposed for quality prediction, but there is no well-accepted statement on how significant those metrics are. In this study, empirical analysis is carried out to validate object-oriented design metrics for defects estimation. Approach: The Chidamber and Kemerer metrics suite … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 6,992 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA New Enhancement for Security Mechanism in RoutersKhalid Khanfar, Riyad Khanfar, Walid Al-Ahmad, Eyas El-QawasmehProblem statement: Routers are very important components in any network. They control and organize the in-bound traffic and the out-bound traffic. Controlling a router by an intruder leaves the entire network unsecured. In different studies, Router security was discussed from different aspects such as the routing protocol, the firewall. In this research, we present a new effective security mechanism for … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 7,173 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHuman Computer Interaction Approach in Developing Customer Relationship ManagementMohd H.N.M. Nasir, Mustaffa Kamal, Wan A.W. RozaliProblem statement: Many published studies have found that more than 50% of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system implementations have failed due to the failure of system usability and does not fulfilled user expectation. This study presented the issues that contributed to the failures of CRM system and proposed a prototype of CRM system developed using Human Computer Interaction approaches in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 7,144 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImplementation of Low-Memory Reference FFT on Digital Signal ProcessorYi-Pin Hsu, Shin-Yu LinProblem statement: In order to improve and implement Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), in general, an efficient parallel form in digital signal processor is necessary. The butterfly structure is an important role in FFT, because its symmetry form is suitable for hardware implementation. Although it can perform a symmetric structure, the performance will be reduced under the data-dependent flow characteristic. Even … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 7,146 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Novel Routing Technique against Packet Dropping Attack in Adhoc NetworksN. Bhalaji, Sinchan banerjee, A. ShanmugamProblem Statement: Mobile adhoc networks (MANETs) were extensively used in defense and rescue applications. The dynamic topology of MANETs allows nodes to join and leave the network at any point of time. This dynamic property of MANET has rendered it vulnerable to various security attacks. Many trust establishment methods were proposed to increase the security in MANET. In this paper … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 6,586 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSolving Protein Folding Problem using Elitism-Based Compact Genetic AlgorithmAmr Badr, Ibtehal M. Aref, Basma M. Hussien, Yosr EmanProteins are vital components of living cells. A number of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cystic fibrosis and Mad Cow diseases are shown to result from misfunctioning of proteins. Problem statement: Protein folding problem is the process of predicting the optimal 3D molecular structure of a protein, or tertiary structure, which is an indication of its proper function. Approach: An enhancement … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 6,861 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDynamic Traffic Light Sequence Algorithm Using RFIDKhalid A.S. Al-Khateeb, Jaiz A.Y. Johari, Wajdi F. Al-KhateebProblem statement: Traffic congestion and tidal flow management were recognized as major problems in modern urban areas, which have caused much frustration and loss of man hours. Approach: In order to solve the problem an intelligent RFID traffic control has been developed. It has circumvented or avoided the problems that usually arise with systems such as those, which use image … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 21,778 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnimation of Natural Language Specifications of Authentication ProtocolsMabroka A. Mayouf, Zarina ShukurProblem Statement: A few visualization tools have been created for protocol design and analysis. Although these tools provide an environment for designing security protocols, each one has its own protocol definition language (its also called informal specification language). The problem is that the user should understand the language which related to the used tool in order to define an exist … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 6,736 accessesView PDFCite
