Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titlePerformance Assessment of CPU Scheduling Algorithms: A Scenario-Based Approach with FCFS, RR, and SJFOlaa Hajjar, Escelle Mekhallalati, Nada Annwty et al.This study presents an extensive examination of CPU scheduling algorithms, focusing on the First-Come, First-Served (FCFS), Round-Robin (RR), and Shortest-Job-First (SJF) strategies through a carefully designed scenario-based approach. By deploying a Java-based simulation to dynamically generate random process arrival and burst times, this study simulates a variety of operational conditions to test these scheduling algorithms’ adaptability and performance in environments … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 20, Issue 9 · 16 Jun 2024 · 9,091 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Developed Uncapacitated Scheduling Algorithm of Building Timetables for Different Exam KindsHussein Al Bazar, Hussein Abdel-JaberScheduling many exams into different timeslots and rooms while meeting all given requirements is a difficult task, which requires designing and proposing a scheduling algorithm to deal with the issue of timetabling examination. This paper proposes a scheduling algorithm for tackling such an issue. The proposed scheduling algorithm generates a satisfactory timetable of different module exams derived from different faculties … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 16, Issue 8 · 22 Aug 2020 · 6,795 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAdvanced Grasshopper Optimization Scheduling Algorithm (AGOSA) for Multi-Cloud EnvironmentsS. Gowri, A. SumathiThe multi-cloud scheduling problem refers to the challenging task of efficiently allocating and managing resources across multiple cloud environments, involving the optimization of task scheduling, resource allocation to minimize makespan, reduce resource costs, and handle the complexity of multi-cloud environments while making optimal scheduling decisions. To overcome this issue. The paper proposes a novel scheduling algorithm, the Advanced Grasshopper Optimization … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 21, Issue 10 · 24 Nov 2025 · 2,646 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleComparative Study of Packet Scheduling Algorithm in LTE NetworkAlaa Omer Najim, Nor Asilah Wati Abdul Hamid, Zurina Mohd Hanapi, Idawaty AhmadAt present, Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is the most popular Internet access technology because of its robust wireless connectivity that can support data, voice, video and messaging traffic. This advantage has significantly increased the number of users availing themselves of these services through various devices. Such an increase in the number of users has also increased network traffic. Thus, scheduling algorithms … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 12 · 20 Dec 2017 · 7,822 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleEnhanced Preemptive Global Utility Accrual Real Time Scheduling Algorithms in Multicore EnvironmentIdawaty Ahmad, Mohamed Othman, Zuriati Ahmad ZulkarnainThis paper proposed an efficient real time scheduling algorithm using global scheduling paradigm running in multicore environment known as Global Preemptive Utility Accrual Scheduling (GPUAS) algorithm. The existing TUF/UA multiprocessor scheduling algorithms known as Greedy-Global Utility Accrual (G-GUA) and Non Greedy-Global Utility Accrual (NG-GUA) algorithms is seen to overlook the efficiency on its task scheduling algorithm. These algorithms have adapted … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 12 · 11 Feb 2016 · 6,390 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleA Comparative Analysis of Task Scheduling Algorithms of Virtual Machines in Cloud EnvironmentSaleh Atiewi, Salman Yussof, Mohd EzaneeCloud computing is an interesting and beneficial area in modern distributed computing. It enables millions of users to use the offered services through their own devices or terminals. Cloud computing offers an environment with low cost, ease of use and low power consumption by utilizing server virtualization in its offered services (e.g., Infrastructure as a Service). The pool of Virtual … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 6 · 18 Sep 2015 · 7,642 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleCOMPARISON FOR WIMAX SCHEDULING ALGORITHMS AND PROPOSAL QUALITY OF SERVICE IMPROVEMENT IN WIMAX NETWORKSR. Nandhini, N. DevarajanThe objective of the broadband wireless technologies is to ensure the end to end Quality of Service (QoS) for service classes. Wimax is a revolution in wireless networks which could support real time multimedia services. In order to provide QoS support and efficient usage of system resources an intelligent scheduling algorithm is needed. The design of detailed scheduling algorithm is … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 19 Nov 2013 · 7,394 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleFUZZY ROUND ROBIN CPU SCHEDULING ALGORITHMBashir AlamOne problem in Round Robin CPU Scheduling is that if the time required for the running process is slightly more than time quantum even by a fraction value, then process gets preempted and context switch occurs. This causes more waiting time for that process and more overheads due to unnecessary context switch. Another problem with RR scheduling is the value … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 9 Jul 2013 · 7,909 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titlePerformances of Partition Utility Accrual Real Time Scheduling AlgorithmIdawaty Ahmad, Shamala Subramaniam, Mohamed Othman, Zuriati ZulkarnainProblem statement: This study proposed a TUF/UA real time scheduling algorithm known as Partition Preemptive Utility Accrual Scheduling (PUAS) also known as PPUAS algorithm. This algorithm addressed the overloaded problem that was identified in a uniprocessor scheduling environment and the necessity to design the scheduling algorithm in a multiprocessor environment.
