Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAn Alternative Scaling Factor In Broyden's Class Methods for Unconstrained OptimizationMuhammad Fauzi bin Embong, Mustafa bin Mamat, Mohd Rivaie, Ismail bin MohdProblem statement: In order to calculate step size, a suitable line search method can be employed. As the step size usually not exact, the error is unavoidable, thus radically affect quasi-Newton method by as little as 0.1 percent of the step size error. Approach: A suitable scaling factor has to be introduced to overcome this inferiority. Self-scaling Variable Metric algorithms … …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 2 Jun 2010 · 7,692 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAn Adaptive Modulation Scaling Scheme for Quality of Services Ensurance in Wireless Sensor NetwoksYong Yuan, Zongkai Yang, Jianhua HeEnergy consumption has been a key concern of data gathering in wireless sensor networks. Previous research works show that modulation scaling is an efficient technique to reduce energy consumption. However, such technique will also impact on both packet delivery latency and packet loss, therefore, may result in adverse effects on the qualities of applications. In this study, the problem of … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2005 · 6,780 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsMultidimensional Sustainability Assessment of Marica Goat Farming in Contrasting Agroecological Zones of South Sulawesi, IndonesiaA. Amidah Amrawaty, Indrawirawan, Agustina Abdullah, Muhammad Ihsan Andi DagongThe Marica goat, a local breed in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, is highly adaptable to arid environments but faces a continuous population decline. This study assessed the sustainability of Marica goat farming in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research focusing on two agroecological zones: the mountainous Kelara District and the coastal Tamalatea District. A rapid appraisal approach was employed, integrating … …American Journal of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Vol. 20, Issue 3 · 7 Nov 2025 · 2,308 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsInverse Kinematics at the Anthropomorphic Robots, by a Trigonometric MethodRelly Victoria V. Petrescu, Raffaella Aversa, Bilal Akash et al.A robot is a machine especially programmable one through a computer capable of performing a complex series of actions in the automatic mode. Robots may be guided by a control device or external control may be incorporated in the inside. Robots can be built to take human form, but most robots are machines designed to perform a task without taking … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 27 Apr 2017 · 8,817 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsContrasting Three Popular Explanations for the Muller-Lyer IllusionMichael R. WoloszynProblem statement: Using the method of adjustment, participants compared the line lengths of ‘dumbbell’ and ‘spectacle’ versions of Muller-Lyer (circles and ovals at the endpoints in place of arrowheads). Approach: Three popular competing explanations for the illusion (conflicting cues, misapplied size constancy scaling and confusion hypothesis) make differing predictions concerning the pattern of change in illusion strength when the bounding … …Current Research in Psychology, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 31 Dec 2010 · 22,790 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsCuckoo Search Optimized Random Forest for Breast Cancer PrognosisPrasad S. Sase, Debabrata Swain, Shailesh KumarBreast cancer remains a major global health concern due to its high mortality rate, particularly when diagnosis occurs at an advanced stage. Accurate and early differentiation between benign and malignant tumors is therefore critical for improving patient outcomes. Conventional diagnostic practices largely depend on manual assessment and clinical expertise, which may lead to subjective variability in decision-making. To overcome this … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2026 · 2,098 accessesView PDFCite
EditorialOpen accessIn the keywordsThe Automatic Processing of Ionospheric Data: New Possibilities Even with Old Data?Carlo ScottoTheautomatic interpretation of ionograms provides an opportunity to establish alarge quantity of data at reduced costs and also makes it possible to recovermeasurements that could otherwise be lost to posterity. The quality of theautomatically obtained data is still not completely defined, which inducescomparison with the traditional method conducted by experienced operators. …Space Science International, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 4 Jun 2015 · 7,034 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Review on OFDM and PAPR Reduction TechniquesArun Kumar, Manisha GuptaOFDM is a multi carrier transmission technique where a single set of data is transmitted over a number of sub-carrier. OFDM takes the advantage of multi-path propagation and reduces the fading effect. The idea of OFDM is to split the total transmission bandwidth into a number of orthogonal subcarriers which reduces the inter-symbol-interference, power consumption and increases the capacity and … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 2 · 4 Jun 2015 · 8,394 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAccurate Orthogonal Circular Moment Invariants of Gray-Level ImagesKhalid Mohamed HosnyProblem statement: Orthogonal circular moments of gray level images such as Zernike, pseudo Zernike and Fourier-Mellin moments are widely used in different applications of image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision. Computational processes of these moments and their translation and scale invariants still an open area of research. Approach: a unified methodology is presented for efficient and accurate computation of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 7,787 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsImproving the Performance of Machine Learning Based Multi Attribute Face Recognition Algorithm Using Wavelet Based Image Decomposition TechniqueS. Sakthivel, M. RajaramProblem statement: Recognizing a face based attributes is an easy task for a human to perform; it is closely automated and requires little mental effort. A computer, on the other hand, has no innate ability to recognize a face or a facial feature and must be programmed with an algorithm to do so. Generally, to recognize a face, different kinds … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 7 Mar 2011 · 6,907 accessesView PDFCite
