Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePerformance Improvement of SNP Search Using Multithread ProgrammingGeraldo Francisco Donegá Zafalon, Álvaro Magri Nogueira da Cruz, Anderson Rici Amorim et al.Pattern recognition is an important field in Bioinformatics and a well-known task is the search for Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP). It is possible to search for a known SNP position and analyze it using patterns of DNA bases, called masks. Nonetheless, this process becomes computationally expensive as the amount of available genomic data increases. Thus, in this study, we have … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 11 · 7 Nov 2018 · 7,734 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAnalyzing Performance and Power of Multicore Architecture Using Multithreaded Iterative SolverIngyu LeeProblem statement: Scientific modeling and simulations have been popularly used with experiments and theoretical analysis in science and engineering communities. Approach: Consequently, computational demands are growing exponentially to afford large scale modeling and simulations. Results: As a result, multicore computing architectures had been proposed and several products are already available. However, we do not have a proper study on the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 4 · 30 Apr 2010 · 7,212 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsDSP-128:Stream Cipher Based On Discrete Log Problem And Polynomial ArithmeticKhaled M. Suwais, Azman SamsudinDSP-128 is a new multithreaded stream cipher based on the intractability of the Discrete Logarithm Problem (DLP) with key size of 128-bit. The design of DSP-128 is divided into three stages: Initialization Stage, Keystream Generation Stage, and Encryption Stage. The design goal of DSP-128 is to come up with a secure stream cipher with good performance for data encryption. The … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 7 · 31 Jul 2008 · 7,396 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsDPSA: Deterministic Parallel Search Algorithm in Large DatabaseSami Qawasmeh, Arwa ZabianThe main goal of parallel processing is to reduce the complexity of finding a solution for a problem. In this study, we consider the problem of searching for multiple items at the same time in a large database. We propose a parallel search algorithm that reduces the searching time in comparison to binary search algorithm saving in that the time … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 9 · 6 Sep 2017 · 7,190 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsInteractive Computing Framework for Engineering ApplicationsJovana Knezevic, Jerome Frisch, Ralf-Peter Mundani, Ernst RankProblem statement: Even though the computational steering state-of-the-art environments allow users to embed their simulation codes as a module for an interactive steering without the necessity for their own expertise in high-performance computing and visualisation, e.g., these environments are limited in their possible applications and mostly entail heavy code changes in order to integrate the existing code. Approach: In this … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 7,207 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEffective Utilization of Multicore Processor for Unified Threat Management FunctionsSudhakar Gummadi, Radhakrishnan ShanmugasundaramProblem statement: Multicore and multithreaded CPUs have become the new approach for increase in the performance of the processor based systems. Numerous applications benefit from use of multiple cores. Unified threat management is one such application that has multiple functions to be implemented at high speeds. Increasing performance of the system by knowing the nature of the functionality and effective … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 29 Oct 2011 · 8,148 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDynamic Allocation of CPUs in Multicore Processor for Performance Improvement in Network Security ApplicationsSudhakar Gummadi, Radhakrishnan ShanmugasundaramProblem statement: Multicore and multithreaded CPUs have become the new approach for increase in the performance of the processor based systems. Numerous applications benefit from use of multiple cores. Increasing performance of the system by increasing the number of CPUs of the multicore processor for a given application warrants detailed experimentation. In this study, the results of the experimentation done … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 6 · 14 Jun 2011 · 6,844 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOmega Network Hash ConstructionChai Wen Chuah, Azman SamsudinProblem statement: Cryptographic hash functions are important cryptographic primitives. They are commonly used for data integrity checking and data authentication. Most of the cryptographic hash functions are based on the Merkle-Damgård construction. The basic Merkle-Damgård construction runs over the input sequentially, which can lead to problems when the input size is large since the computation time increases linearly. Approach: Therefore, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 7,123 accessesView PDFCite
