Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleRandom Dummy Packet Distribution Approach for Detection of Routing Misbehavior in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworkT. Sakthivel, R. M. Chandrasekaran, S. Vijay BhanuA Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) works on the assumption that mobile nodes are cooperative. On the other hand, in practical, it may not be possible due to selfish, malicious and misbehaving nodes present in the network. These nodes are capable of interrupting the communication process and there is a potential for serious performance degradation. To improve the performance of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 11 · 6 Nov 2012 · 6,974 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleThe Influence of Parents in Adolescents' MisbehaviorHabibah Elias, Nooreen NoordinPositive relationships within the family, parental support, a consistent and constructive parental discipline style and adult supervision tend to be related negatively to adolescents deviant behaviors and their associations with deviant peers. Poor family relationships were found to be associated with higher levels of delinquent behaviors, possibly due to the fact that parents in those families provided poor role models … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 18 Jul 2011 · 8,384 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAcknowledgment based Reputation Mechanism to Mitigate the Node Misbehavior in Mobile Ad Hoc NetworksK. Gopalakrishnan, V. Rhymend UthariarajProblem statement: The cooperation between the nodes is essential to discover and maintain routes in mobile ad hoc network. Due to the presence of misbehaving nodes, the node cooperation is not always guaranteed as the nodes agreed during the route discovery phase. This phenomenon results in frequent network partitioning and it makes the routing process difficult. It also degrades the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 14 Jul 2011 · 6,567 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEnhancing Wireless Medium Access Control Layer Misbehavior Detection System in IEEE 802.11 NetworkA. M. Alsahag, M. OthmanWireless Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols such as IEEE 802.11 use distributed contention resolution mechanisms for sharing the wireless channel. In this environment, selfish hosts that fail to adhere to the MAC protocol may obtain an unfair throughput share. For example, IEEE 802.11 requires hosts competing for access to the channel to wait for a "back-off" interval, randomly selected from … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 6,963 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Dynamic Approach for Rate Adaptation in Mobile Adhoc NetworksPalaniammal Senniappan, Suganya SubramaniamA Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes with no fixed infrastructure. The absence of central authorization facility in dynamic and distributed environment affects the optimal utilization of resources like, throughput, power and bandwidth. Rate adaptation is the key technique to optimize the resource throughput. Some recently proposed rate adaptations use Request to Send/Clear to Send … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 6 · 8 Jun 2013 · 6,673 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractTrust Based Node Replication Attack Detection Protocol for Wireless Sensor NetworksV. Manjula, C. ChellappanThe harmful attack against Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is Node Replication attack, where one or more node(s) illegitimately claims an identity, are also called clone attack due to identity theft. The Node replication attack can be exceedingly injurious to many important functions of the sensor network such as routing, resource allocation, misbehavior detection, This study proposes a method Randomized and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 11 · 5 Nov 2012 · 6,756 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSystem of One to Three Umpire Security System for Wireless Mobile Ad hoc NetworkC. Rajabhushanam, A. KathirvelProblem statement: A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a self-created self-organized and self-administering set of nodes connected via wireless links without the aid of any fixed infrastructure or centralized administrator. Protecting the network layer from malicious attacks is an important and challenging issue in both wired and wireless networks and the issue becomes even more challenging in the case … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 12 · 19 Oct 2011 · 7,241 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMisbehaving Node Detection in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks using Multi Hop Acknowledgement SchemeUsha Sakthivel, S. RadhaProblem statement: For any node in a Mobile Ad hoc Network conservation of battery power and bandwidth are the priority. Hence, they try to reduce the overload they would otherwise incur when they forward packets. This selfish behavior of a node affects the throughput of the network. The nodes may also choose a back off value of shorter duration. These … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 6,712 accessesView PDFCite
