Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsIncremental DataGrid Mining Algorithm for Mobility Prediction of Mobile UsersU. Sakthi, R.S. BhuvaneswaranProblem statement: Mobility prediction is the important issue in Personal Communication Systems (PCS). Mobile users moving logs are stored in data grid located in different locations. Distributed data mining algorithm is applied on this moving logs to generate the mobility pattern of mobile users. As new moving logs are added to the data grid, existing mobility pattern becomes invalid and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2009 · 6,775 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAutomated Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda, J.E. Smith) Pheromone Trap Based on Machine LearningSimon H. Chiwamba, Jackson Phiri, Philip O.Y. Nkunika et al.Maize is the main food crop that meets the nutritional needs of both humans and livestock in the sub-Saharan African region. Maize crop has in the recent past been threatened by the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda, J.E Smith) which has caused considerable maize yield losses in the region. Controlling this pest requires knowledge on the time, location and extent of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 12 · 19 Dec 2019 · 8,364 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractFROM DATA MINING AND KNOWLEDGE DISCOVERY TO BIG DATA ANALYTICS AND KNOWLEDGE EXTRACTION FOR APPLICATIONS IN SCIENCESubana Shanmuganathan"Data mining" for "knowledge discovery in databases" and associated computational operations first introduced in the mid-1990 s can no longer cope with the analytical issues relating to the so-called "big data". The recent buzzword big data refers to large volumes of diverse, dynamic, complex, longitudinal and/or distributed data generated from instruments, sensors, Internet transactions, email, video, click streams, noisy, structured/unstructured … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 20 Jan 2015 · 8,740 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAgent Based Grid Resource Discovery with Negotiated Alternate Solution and Non-Functional Requirement PreferencesP. Muthuchelvi, G.S. Anandha Mala, V. RamachandranProblem statement: As grid resources are geographically distributed, efficient resource discovery and management has become one of the important requirements. Besides, Grid users are independent identities and negotiation is necessary for reconciling their diverse characteristics. Therefore special mechanism was required to negotiate and discover the required resource or similar resource as an alternative when discovery fails. Moreover the quality of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,504 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBirds as a Tool for Island Habitat Conservation and ManagementPedro Rodrigues, Regina Tristao da CunhaProblem statement: The Azores is a archipelago of nine volcanic islands, situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic islands are known hotspots of biodiversity and the Azores, although relatively young (0.3-13 MA), conform to this general pattern. The local avifauna amount to 37 birding species, with two endemic species and 11 endemic subspecies. With an estimated population … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 20 Jan 2012 · 8,157 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractADAPTIVE RESOURCE CONTROL MECHANISM THROUGH REPUTATION-BASED SCHEDULING IN HETEROGENEOUS DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMSMasnida Hussin, Rohaya LatipThe service-oriented distributed systems such as Grids and Clouds are unified computing platform that connect and share heterogeneous resources including computation resource, storage resource, information resource and knowledge resource. While these systems provide a vast amount of computing power their reliability are often hard to be guaranteed. It is due to the increased complexity of processing (e.g., overhead, latency) that … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 7,047 accessesView PDF Cite
