Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleMeta Heuristic Algorithms for Vehicle Routing Problem with Stochastic DemandsGeetha Shanmugam, Poonthalir Ganesan, Dr. P.T. VanathiProblem statement: The shipment of goods from manufacturer to the consumer is a focal point of distribution logistics. In reality, the demand of consumers is not known a priori. This kind of distribution is dealt by Stochastic Vehicle Routing Problem (SVRP) which is a NP-hard problem. In this proposed work, VRP with stochastic demand is considered. A probability distribution is … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 4 · 4 Apr 2011 · 8,021 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleServer Optimization Using Heuristic Algorithms for Dynamic-Split-and-Merge Scheme in Wireless MulticastR. Sukumar, V. VasudevanProblem statement: In order to minimize the overall network traffic in a multiserver system, the number of users served by each server (and hence the group size) should remain constant. As the underlying traffic fluctuates, a split and merge scheme is implemented in a physical server to achieve load balancing. Approach: Minimizing the number of servers during the merge operation … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 6,811 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleMetaheuristic Algorithms for Independent Task Scheduling in Symmetric and Asymmetric Cloud Computing EnvironmentNagwan M. Abdel Samee, Sara Sayed Ahmed, Rania Ahmed Abdel Azeem Abul SeoudCloud Computing (CC) is a recent technology in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field. It provides an on-demand access to the shared pool of resources via virtualization. Large enterprises move toward CC due to its flexibility and scalability driven from its elastic pay-per-use model. To provide ensured efficient performance to users, tasks should be efficiently mapped to available resources. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 4 · 3 May 2019 · 7,649 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsSpeech Enhancement Based on Adaptive Noise Cancellation and Particle Swarm OptimizationTayseer M.F. Taha, Summrina Kanwal Wajid, Amir HussainSpeech enhancement is used in almost all modern communication systems. This is due to the quality of speech being degraded by environmental interference factors, such as: Acoustic additive noise, acoustic reverberation or white Gaussian noise. This paper, explores the potential of different benchmark optimization techniques for enhancing the speech signal. This is accomplished by fine tuning filter coefficients using a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 15, Issue 5 · 28 May 2019 · 7,729 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsHeuristic Algorithm with Simulation Model for Searching Optimal Reservoir Rule CurvesAnongrit Kangrang, Sudarat Compliew, Witsanukorn ChaiyapoomThis study proposes a heuristic algorithm to connect with simulation model for searching the optimal reservoir rule curves. The proposed model was applied to determine the optimal rule curves of the Ubolratana reservoir (the Chi River Basin, Thailand). The results showed that the pattern of the obtained rule curves similar to the existing rule curve. Then the obtained rule curves … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2009 · 7,424 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEfficient Resource Allocation and Task Scheduling in a Cloud Computing Environment using Swarm IntelligencePanuganti Hanumantha Rao, Rajakumar Subramanian, Geetha SomanThe new age of network-based computing, known as "cloud computing," is characterized by the distribution and sharing of resources over a network. These resources are available to anyone through the Internet on a pay-per-use basis. Any service that anybody uses can generate massive amounts of data. Therefore, in this scenario, there will be a significant cost associated with transferring data … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 20, Issue 12 · 7 Nov 2024 · 4,716 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSlime Mould Reproduction: A New Optimization Algorithm for Constrained Engineering ProblemsRajalakshmi Sakthivel, Kanmani SelvaduraiIn recent explorations of biologically inspired optimization strategies, the Slime Mould Reproduction (SMR) algorithm emerges as an innovative meta-heuristic optimization technique. This algorithm is deeply rooted in the reproductive dynamics observed in slime molds, particularly the intricate balance these organisms strike between local and global spore dispersal. By replicating this balance, the SMR algorithm deftly navigates between exploration and exploitation … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 20, Issue 1 · 21 Dec 2023 · 5,943 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBio-inspired Search Approach Cross-Domain Location Mapping for Smart Mobile Service SystemIsrael Edem Agbehadji, Abdultaofeek Abayomi, Murimo B. Mutanga et al.The health care service sector is very critical in every country. Although governments have made significant efforts to improve health infrastructure and train more qualified health professionals, the majority of them cannot find jobs within public health facilities. Furthermore, patients queue at health care facilities for hours daily for basic health care services while job creation and reducing these long … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 18, Issue 4 · 26 Apr 2022 · 6,158 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA Comparative Study of Informed and Uninformed Search Algorithm to Solve Eight-Puzzle ProblemWahyu Hidayat, Fitri Susanti, Dedy Rahman WijayaProblems in artificial intelligence can be solved using intelligent tracking methods through intelligent search mechanisms. Understandably, search algorithm performances are highly dependent on the problem solved. In this study, we evaluate and compare the performance of five uninformed and informed search (breadth-first search, depth first search, optimal search and best first search using two heuristic functions, namely mismatched tile and … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 11 · 3 Dec 2021 · 8,825 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractLayout Optimization in a Fitness Industry: An Application of QAP Formulation and Heuristic Approachesİbrahim Miraç Eligüzel, Eren Özceylan, Yakup AtasagunThe Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP) is the problem of determining a one-to-one and onto assignment between two sets, each consisting of n objects (e.g., n facilities and n locations) so as to minimize the sum of the distance × flow associated with pairs of assignments. In this study, QAP formulation is applied to a fitness center to assign the sports … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 17, Issue 4 · 3 May 2021 · 6,681 accessesView PDFCite
