Review ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractHuman Activity Recognition at the Edge: A Systematic Review of Machine Learning Models, Deployment Constraints, and Latency Energy Accuracy Trade offsJose Antonio Rojas Guillén, Wini Ebelin Quispe Bautista, Arturo Gamarra MorenoHuman Activity Recognition (HAR) has become a key component of intelligent healthcare monitoring, assisted living, sports analytics, smart environments, and wearable computing. However, the migration of HAR models from cloud-centered architectures to edge, embedded, mobile, and wearable platforms introduces constraints related to computational capacity, memory footprint, battery consumption, inference time, and real-time responsiveness. This study presents a systematic literature review … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 22, Issue 8 · 7 Sep 2026 · 593 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMAPREDUCE CHALLENGES ON PERVASIVE GRIDSL. A. Steffenel, O. Flauzac, A. S. Charao et al.This study presents the advances on designing and implementing scalable techniques to support the development and execution of MapReduce application in pervasive distributed computing infrastructures, in the context of the PER-MARE project. A pervasive framework for MapReduce applications is very useful in practice, especially in those scientific, enterprises and educational centers which have many unused or underused computing resources, which … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 11 · 24 Jul 2014 · 9,834 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOperation of an SLA-aware Grid FabricMatthias HovestadtResearch on Grid Computing started under purely technical questions of how to realize the virtualization of distributed resources. Now, the commercial user should be attracted to use the Grid. Future applications of the Next Generation Grid will demand for flexible negotiation mechanisms supporting various ways of Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees. In this context a Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a powerful … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2006 · 6,659 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordUsing MVCA to Improve Architecture Modularity of Smart SpacesChakib Tadj, Moeiz Miraoui, Somia BelaidouniThere has been increasing interest in the use of context awareness, as a technique for designing architectures dedicated to smart spaces in order to adapt and produce suitable services according to user context. In recent years, various architectures have been developed to support context-aware systems. The major challenge with these systems is decomposing the entire architecture into smaller, modular components … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 10 · 20 Oct 2017 · 7,162 accessesView PDF Cite
