Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAutomatic Palmprint Identification based on High Order Zernike MomentR. Gayathri, P. RamamoorthyProblem statement: Hand geometry contains relatively invariant features of an individual. Palmprint recognition is an efficient biometric solution for authentication system. The existence of several hand-based authentication commercial systems indicates the effectiveness of this type of biometric. Approach: We proposed a palmprint verification system using high order Zernike moment that was robust to rotation, translation and occlusion. Zernike moment was … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 5 · 12 Mar 2012 · 7,193 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleInvariant Image Watermarking Using Accurate Zernike MomentsIsmail A. Ismail, Mohamed A. Shouman, Khalid M. Hosny, Hayam M. Abdel SalamProblem statement: Digital image watermarking is the most popular method for image authentication, copyright protection and content description. Zernike moments are the most widely used moments in image processing and pattern recognition. The magnitudes of Zernike moments are rotation invariant so they can be used just as a watermark signal or be further modified to carry embedded data. The computed … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 1 · 31 Jul 2010 · 8,009 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsOmni-Zernike Algorithm for Template Matching in Catadioptric SystemAnisse Khald, Amina Radgui, Mohammed RzizaImage descriptor have been widely applied in many computer visions and image understanding applications including pattern recognition, robotic, video surveillance, camera calibration and image retrieval, etc. Invariants features are robust when apply several transformations of photometry (illumination, blur, noise, JPEG compression) and transformations of geometry (scaling, rotation, translation and viewpoint change). In this study, we present representation and matching region … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 16, Issue 12 · 30 Dec 2020 · 6,501 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsSchoenberg Logarithmic Image Similarity in Prewitt-Gabor-Zernike DomainAhmed Jebur Ali, Zahir M. Hussain, Mohammed Sahib Mechee, Zainab Ali KhalafThis paper represents a new approach for face recognition that incorporates Prewitt edge detection, Gabor filter and Zernike moments to transform the image into a unified domain. On this joint domain, five distance metrics are constructed using Schoenberg transform for the purpose of defining efficient similarity measures for holistic face recognition. The proposed Schoenberg similarity applies Schoenberg transform to the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 14, Issue 9 · 28 Sep 2017 · 7,931 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Robust Recognition System for Pecan Weevil using Artificial Neural NetworksSaleh Mufleh Al-SaqerProblem statement: Pecan Weevil is a widely found pest among pecan trees and these pests are known to cause significant damage to the pecan trees resulting in enormous annual losses to pecan growers. Traditional identification techniques for pecan weevil include traps with pheromones to detect the infestation of these pests. However, these traditional methods require expensive labor hours to set-up … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 9 · 14 Jul 2012 · 6,831 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsLogo Recognition System Using Angular Radial Transform DescriptorsOmar Mohammed Wahdan, Khairuddin Omar, Mohammad Faidzul NasrudinProblem statement: The shape-based logo recognition systems have been developed to automate the logo registration process. The logo recognition operation faces many challenges such as having to recognize logos that might be scaled, rotated, translated and added with noises. Different types of logo’s shapes further add to the complex nature of this problem. Approach: We developed a logo recognition system … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 9 · 26 Jul 2011 · 7,197 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsAccurate Orthogonal Circular Moment Invariants of Gray-Level ImagesKhalid Mohamed HosnyProblem statement: Orthogonal circular moments of gray level images such as Zernike, pseudo Zernike and Fourier-Mellin moments are widely used in different applications of image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision. Computational processes of these moments and their translation and scale invariants still an open area of research. Approach: a unified methodology is presented for efficient and accurate computation of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 5 · 7 May 2011 · 7,787 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsNovel Moment Features Extraction for Recognizing Handwritten Arabic LettersGheith Abandah, Nasser AnssariProblem statement: Offline recognition of handwritten Arabic text awaits accurate recognition solutions. Most of the Arabic letters have secondary components that are important in recognizing these letters. However these components have large writing variations. We targeted enhancing the feature extraction stage in recognizing handwritten Arabic text. Approach: In this study, we proposed a novel feature extraction approach of handwritten Arabic … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2009 · 7,495 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Reliable Identification System for Red Palm WeevilSaleh Mufleh Al-SaqerProblem statement: Red Palm Weevil (RPW) is a widely found pest among palm trees and is known to cause significant losses every year to palm growers. Existing identification techniques for RPW comprise of using traps with pheromones to detect these pests. However, these traditional methods are labor-intensive, expensive to implement and unreliable for early detection of RPW infestation. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractA NEW METHOD FOR 3D SHAPE INDEXING AND RETRIEVAL IN LARGE DATABASE BY USING THE LEVEL CUTA. Lakehal, M. Elkhal, K. SatoriIn this study, we propose a new method for indexing and retrieval of 3D models in large databases based on binary images extracted from the 3D object called &#34level cut&#34 LC. These cuts are obtained by the intersection of the set of the plans with the 3D object. A set of equidistant parallel plans generates by the intersection with the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 10 · 22 May 2014 · 6,824 accessesView PDFCite
