Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleAn Efficient Algorithm for Tree Mapping in XML DatabasesYangjun ChenIn this article, we discuss an efficient algorithm for tree mapping problem in XML databases. Given a target tree T and a pattern tree Q, the algorithm can find all the embeddings of Q in T in O(|T||Q|) time while the existing approaches need exponential time in the worst case. …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 7 · 21 Jul 2007 · 6,567 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsNormalized Relational Storage for Extensible Markup Language (XML) SchemaKamsuriah Ahmad, Reduan SamadProblem statement: The use of XML as the common formats for representing, exchanging, storing, integrating and accessing data posses many new challenges to database systems. Most of application data are stored in relational databases due to its popularity and rich development experiences over it. Therefore, how to provide a proper mapping approach from XML model to relational model become the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 11 · 24 Aug 2011 · 6,838 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Efficient Middleware for Storing and Querying XML Data in Relational Database Management SystemMohammed Adam Ibrahim Fakheraldien, Jasni Mohamad Zain, Norrozila SulaimanProblem statement: In this study, we propose a middleware that provides a transformation utility for storing and querying XML data in relational databases using model mapping method. Approach: To store XML documents in RDBMS, several mapping approaches can be used. We chose structure independent approach. In this middleware the model mapping method XParent and free of cost available technologies MYSQL, … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 2 · 26 Feb 2011 · 7,605 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstracte-Learning Management System Using Service Oriented ArchitectureMohammed A. Jabr, Hussein K. Al-OmariProblem statement: Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) defines how to integrate widely disparate applications for a world that is Web based and uses multiple implementation platforms. Using (SOA) one can build durable e-learning contents, regardless of changes or evolutions in technology. This means that new content should be added to existing content without costly redesign, reconfiguration, or recoding. Approach: In this … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 9,024 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractExtending the Concepts of Normalization from Relational Databases to Extensible-Markup-Language Databases ModelH.J. F. El-SofanyIn this study we have studied the problem of how to extend the concepts of Functional Dependency (FD) and normalization in relational databases to include the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) model. We shown that, like relational databases, XML documents may contain redundant information and this redundancy may cause update anomalies. Furthermore, such problems are caused by certain functional dependencies among … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2008 · 6,461 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDevelopment of Deduced Protein Database Using Variable Bit Binary EncodingB. Parvathavarthini, B. Rajesh Kanna, L. RajeswarideviA large amount of biological data is semi-structured and stored in any one the following file formats such as flat, XML and relational files. These databases must be integrated with the structured data available in relational or object-oriented databases. The sequence matching process is difficult in such file format, because string comparison takes more computation cost and time. To reduce … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 4, Issue 6 · 30 Jun 2008 · 6,512 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Integrated Approach to Digital Objects Storage and RetrievalKhalil Shihab, Haider Ramadhan, Nida Al-ChalabiImage retrieval systems are becoming increasingly important in areas of research and commercial use. The storage of digital objects in the traditional databases is considered inadequate because of the extensive precise data required for successful retrieval. In addition, the retrieval process has been implemented using content-based image retrieval (CBIR) that relies on retrieving stored images from a collection by comparing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2006 · 6,491 accessesView PDFCite
