Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesEfficient Simulator Based on Meta-Heuristic for FMS and AGV Systems Design and ControlSlim Ben Saoud, Amel Jaoua, Narjès Bellamine-Ben SaoudFlexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) based on Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) have emerged as highly competitive manufacturing technologies of the last decade. However, their design and control are complex tasks since the decision problems related to the different system parameters such as sizing and scheduling are usually shown as NP-hard. Nowadays, computer simulation is one of the most commonly used methods … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 1 Dec 2020 · 5,954 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesDesign of Field Programmable Gate Array Based Emulators for Motor Control ApplicationsAhmed Ben Achballah, Slim Ben Othman, Slim Ben SaoudProblem statement: Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) circuits play a significant role in major recent embedded process control designs. However, exploiting these platforms requires deep hardware conception skills and remains an important time consuming stage in a design flow. High Level Synthesis technique avoids this bottleneck and increases design productivity as witnessed by industry specialists. Approach: This study proposes to … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 8 · 12 Jun 2012 · 8,726 accessesView PDF Cite

Approach: In this study, we present a design approach of FPGA based Controller for electromechanical system. In this way, we present solutions obtained by Hardware/Software Code sign methodology targeted for the implementation of a motor control drive system using … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 1 · 18 Feb 2012 · 8,983 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesField Programmable Gate Array -Based System-on-Chip for Real-Time Power Process ControlAhmed Karim Ben Salem, Slim Ben Othman, Slim Ben SaoudProblem Statement: Nowadays Real-Time (RT) embedded control applications require not just higher performance but more flexibility as well without increasing cost and resources. Approach: In this study we presented a promising co-design and implementation of control solution. We developed flexible solution using software control algorithms coupled with an embedded RT kernel on powerful embedded processor cores, combined with reconfigurable logic … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2010 · 7,459 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesCodesign Methodology of Real-time Embedded Controllers for Electromechanical SystemsSlim Ben Saoud, Andreas Gerstlauer, Daniel D. GajskiUnder increasing time-to-market pressures in the electric drives industries, the development time of new algorithms and new control systems including their debugging time must be minimized. This requirement can be satisfied only by using a well-defined system-level design methodology and by reducing the migration time between the algorithm development language and the hardware specification language. In this study, we propose … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,449 accessesView PDF Cite
