Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePERFORMANCE COMPARISON OF HUFFMAN AND LEMPEL-ZIV WELCH DATA COMPRESSION FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NODE APPLICATIONAsral Bahari Jambek, Nor Alina KhairiWireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are becoming important in today’s technology in helping monitoring our surrounding environment. However, wireless sensor nodes are powered by limited energy supply. To extend the lifetime of the device, energy consumption must be reduced. Data transmission is known to consume the largest amount of energy in a sensor node. Thus, one method to reduce the energy … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 10 Dec 2013 · 7,942 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePerformance of Improved Directed Diffusion Protocol for Sensor Networks under Different Mobility ModelsK. E. Kannammal, T. PurusothamanProblem statement: In sensor networks, some routing protocols performance differs under different mobility models. In ns2, there are two kinds of directed diffusion protocols, rate based gradient mechanism (diffusion/rate) and probability based gradient mechanism (diffusion/prob). In this research, we proposed a method to improve the performance of Directed diffusion/prob protocol by adding a new interest message propagation mechanism and analyzed … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 5 · 25 Feb 2012 · 6,749 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePerformance Analysis of Congestion Reduction Routing in Wireless Sensor NetworksT. V.P. Sundararajan, Thiyaneswaran Manoharan, Abinaya RajendranProblem statement: Data generated in wireless sensor networks may not all be alike: some data may be more important than others and hence may have different delivery requirements, To solve this problem addressed a differentiated data delivery in the presence of congestion in wireless sensor networks and proposed a class of algorithms that enforce differentiated routing based on the congested … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 28 Jun 2011 · 6,795 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleComparative Studies on the Performance of Low Power Transmitters for Wireless Sensor NodesT. Sasilatha, J. RajaProblem statement: Power consumption was one of the most challenging aspects to design low power wireless sensor nodes. The objectives of the study were to (i) Design low voltage, low power transmitters for wireless sensor nodes and (ii) Compare and analyze the performance of the transmitters. Approach: The transmitters employed direct digital modulation scheme to reduce the power consumption of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2009 · 7,450 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePerformance Analysis of Threshold Based Compressive Sensing Algorithm in Wireless Sensor NetworkParnasree Chakraborty, C. ThariniWireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are comprised of spatially distributed sensor nodes, where each node contains sensors, processors and transceivers for communicating data. Regardless of the application in which the sensor network is serving, the data generated in the network eventually must be delivered to the sink. However the limited network bandwidth, frequent node/link failure along with the unreliable communication medium … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 14, Issue 2 · 3 Feb 2017 · 7,507 accessesView PDFCite
