Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleFirst Token Algorithm for Searching Compound Terms Using Thesaurus DatabaseYousef Abuzir, Thabit SabbahProblem statement: Searching text materials is the one of the most important operations that carried out by search engines either on web or desktop applications, searching algorithms are required sometimes to find a specific word into a text, others to find a multi word term (pattern matching) into a text. Searching for term into a thesaurus database can be carried … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 1 · 28 Oct 2011 · 7,946 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleOccurrences Algorithm for String Searching Based on Brute-force AlgorithmAbabneh Mohammad, Oqeili Saleh, Rawan A. AbdeenThis study proposes a string searching algorithm as an improvement of the brute-force searching algorithm. The algorithm is named as, Occurrences algorithm. It is based on performing preprocessing for the pattern and for the text before beginning to search for the pattern in the text. …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2006 · 8,077 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA Fast Approximate String Searching AlgorithmMahmoud Mhashi, Adnan Rawashdeh, Awni HammouriIn both approximate and exact string searching algorithms, the shift distance at the skipping step plays a major role in the performance of string matching algorithms. A new algorithm called the Modified Character-Weight Algorithm (MWA) has been developed to test the effect of the shift distance on the performance of approximate string matching. An experiment was performed comparing the performance … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 3 · 30 Sep 2005 · 6,907 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleHeuristic Algorithm with Simulation Model for Searching Optimal Reservoir Rule CurvesAnongrit Kangrang, Sudarat Compliew, Witsanukorn ChaiyapoomThis study proposes a heuristic algorithm to connect with simulation model for searching the optimal reservoir rule curves. The proposed model was applied to determine the optimal rule curves of the Ubolratana reservoir (the Chi River Basin, Thailand). The results showed that the pattern of the obtained rule curves similar to the existing rule curve. Then the obtained rule curves … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2009 · 7,424 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleStochastic Inflow Simulation for Searching Rule CurvesAnongrit Kangrang, Anujit Phumphan, Witsanukorn ChaiyapoomRule curves are basic monthly guidelines for long term reservoir operation. Generally, the optimal rule curves are searched by reservoir simulation model and optimization techniques. A traditional reservoir simulation does not consider the risk of reservoir operation caused by natural uncertainty from inflow. A stochastic simulation model embedded genetic algorithm model is developed for searching the optimal rule curves in … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2008 · 7,303 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleGenetic Algorithms Connected Simulation with Smoothing Function for Searching Rule CurvesAnongrit Kangrang, Chavalit ChaleeraktrakoonRule curves are fundamental guidelines for operating a reservoir system. The objective of this paper is to find a suitable objective function and to propose a smoothing function constraint for searching the optimal rule curves by using genetic algorithms connected simulation model. The results show that an average water shortage is the optimal objective function for searching the optimal rule … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2007 · 7,482 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSearching of Main Cause Leading to Severe Influenza A Virus Mutations and Consequently to Influenza Pandemics/EpidemicsGuang Wu, Shaomin YanThe unpredictable mutations in the proteins from influenza A virus lead to the great difficulty in prevention of possible outbreak of bird flu and pandemic/epidemic of influenza. This unpredictability is due to the fact that we know little about the causes that lead to the mutations. In three of our recent studies on the hemagglutinins from influenza A virus, we … …American Journal of Infectious Diseases, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2005 · 9,970 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsDPSA: Deterministic Parallel Search Algorithm in Large DatabaseSami Qawasmeh, Arwa ZabianThe main goal of parallel processing is to reduce the complexity of finding a solution for a problem. In this study, we consider the problem of searching for multiple items at the same time in a large database. We propose a parallel search algorithm that reduces the searching time in comparison to binary search algorithm saving in that the time … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 13, Issue 9 · 6 Sep 2017 · 7,190 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Fast Hybrid Algorithm Approach for the Exact String Matching Problem Via Berry Ravindran and Alpha Skip Search AlgorithmsAbdulwahab Ali AlmazroiProblem statement: String matching algorithm had been an essential means for searching biological sequence database. With the constant expansion in scientific data such as DNA and Protein; the development of enhanced algorithms have even become more critical as the major concern had always been how to raise the performances of these search algorithms to meet challenges of scientific information. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsA Fast Hybrid Algorithm for the Exact String Matching ProblemAbdulwahab Ali Al-mazroi, Nur’Aini Abdul RashidProblem statement: Due to huge amount and complicated nature of data being generated recently, the usage of one algorithm for string searching was not sufficient to ensure faster search and matching of patterns. So there is the urgent need to integrate two or more algorithms to form a hybrid algorithm (called BRSS) to ensure speedy results. Approach: This study proposes … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2011 · 8,240 accessesView PDFCite
