Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsSEQUENTIAL ESTIMATION OF THE SQUARE OF THE RAYLEIGH PARAMETERMohamed TahirThe problem addressed is that of sequentially estimating the square of the parameter of the Rayleigh distribution, subject to a weighted squared loss plus cost of sampling. We propose a sequential procedure and provide a second-order asymptotic expansion for the incurred regret. It is seen that the asymptotic regret is negative for a range of values of the parameter. …Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, Vol. 10, Issue 2 · 19 Jun 2014 · 6,439 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIn vitro Kinematics Semen Tolerance to Oxidative StressCyril Mpho PilaneInterpretation of semen kinematic parameters remain as a point of discussion in predicting semen quality following processes like cryopreservation. During cryopreservation, oxidative stress remains a challenge in promoting post-thaw semen quality. Comparison of livestock semen exposed to oxidative stress, in vitro, highlight various aspects of sperm cell movement, like kinematics, to predict their qualities. Sperm cell kinematics includes the measurement … …American Journal of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Vol. 19, Issue 3 · 13 Sep 2024 · 4,560 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAmeliorate Fuzzy C-Means: An Ameliorate Fuzzy C-Means Clustering Algorithm for CT-Lung Image SegmentationJ. Bridget Nirmala, S. GowriEffective and efficient image segmentation acts as a preliminary stage for the computer-aided diagnosis of medical images. For image segmentation, many FCM-based clustering techniques have been proposed. Regrettably, the existing FCM technique does not generate accurate and standardized segmentation results. This is due to the noise present in the image as well as the random initialization of membership values for … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 11 · 1 Oct 2013 · 6,819 accessesView PDF Cite
