Research ArticleOpen accessPhrase in the titleParallel Algorithms for String Matching Problem on Single and Two Dimensional Reconfigurable Pipelined Bus SystemsS. Viswanadha Raju, A. Vinaya BabuWe considered string matching on LARPBS and 2D LARPBS. This has applications such as string databases, cellular automata and computational biology. The main use of this method is to reduce the time spent on comparisons in string matching by using LARPBS. We investigated exact string matching and approximate string matching problems. For these two sub problems, we obtained O (n) … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 3, Issue 9 · 30 Sep 2007 · 6,530 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleUsing Threads to Overcome Synchronization Delays in Parallel Multiple Progressive Alignment AlgorithmsEvandro A. Marucci, Geraldo F.D. Zafalon, Julio C. Momente et al.Problem statement: The parallelization of multiple progressive alignment algorithms is a difficult task. All known methods have strong bottlenecks resulting from synchronization delays. This is even more constraining in distributed memory systems, where message passing also delays the interprocess communication. Despite these drawbacks, parallel computing is becoming increasingly necessary to perform multiple sequence alignment. Approach: In this study, it is … …Current Research in Bioinformatics, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 8 Mar 2012 · 14,192 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleParallel Iterative Algorithms with Accelerate Convergence for Solving Implicit Difference EquationsQing-Fu Liu, Wei-Jun Zhong, Mancho ManevThis study focuses on the solution of implicit difference equations, which are very difficult to compute in parallel for the diffusion equation. For improving the convergence rates and the properties of gradual-approach convergence of Segment-Classic-Implicit-Iterative (SCII) and Segment-Crank-Nicolson-Iterative (SCNI) algorithms realizing efficient iterative computation in parallel by segmenting grid domains, SCII and SCNI algorithms with accelerated convergence are studied and … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2004 · 6,799 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsFPGA-Based Architecture for a Generalized Parallel 2-D MRI Filtering AlgorithmSami Hasan, Said Boussakta, Alex YakovlevProblem statement: Current Neuroimaging developments, in biological research and diagnostics, demand an edge-defined and noise-free MRI scans. Thus, this study presents a generalized parallel 2-D MRI filtering algorithm with their FPGA-based implementation in a single unified architecture. The parallel 2-D MRI filtering algorithms are Edge, Sobel X, Sobel Y, Sobel X-Y, Blur, Smooth, Sharpen, Gaussian and Beta (HYB). Then, the … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 4 · 20 Feb 2012 · 8,021 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsDesign and Implementation of Parallel Subunit for Synthesis Mathematical ModelsIssa M. ShehabatProblem statement: Mathematical modeling of different natural and technical objects and processes is one of the most important directions that needs high performance computing with huge memory. To reduce the computational time and expenses we need to carry out the calculations on specialized subunits. Approach: We described a self-organizing approximation method and introduced a new methodology of structural synthesis of … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 6,920 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsApplications of Parallel Computing for Facility Location-Transportation Problems for Disaster ResponseChansiri Singhtaun, Suriya NatsupakpongThis study extends the capability and increases the performance of a traditional Branch and Bound (BB) algorithm to solve Facility Location-Transportation problems for Disaster Response (FLTDR) using parallel computing. A Two-Stage Branch and Bound (TBB) algorithm was developed to support two parallel computing approaches. This algorithm divides problems into two small sub-problems, which are a facility location sub-problem and a … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 4 · 3 Jun 2015 · 6,654 accessesView PDFCite
