Chandra Kumar MangalamProblem statement: The Software Industry has changed and developed as a consequence of the impact of Open Source Software (OSS) since 1990s. Over a period of time, OSS has evolved in an integrated manner and most of the participants in OSS activity are volunteers. Approach: This coordination form of development has produced a considerable quantity of software; and often, the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 6 · 30 Apr 2012 · 6,972 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImpact of the Use of Object Request Broker Middleware for Inter-Component Communications in C6416 Digital Signal Processor Based Software Communications Architecture Radio SystemsWael A. Murtada, Mohamed M. Zahra, Magdi Fikri et al.Problem statement: This study presents an in-depth analysis of the performance of Software Communications Architecture (SCA) component-based waveform applications in terms of inter-component communications. The main limitation with SCA, in the context of embedded systems, is the additional cost introduced by the use of Object Request Broker (ORB) middleware. The ORB middleware handles the interaction between components and objects in … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 6 · 3 Apr 2012 · 7,239 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractDesign and Implementation of an Efficient Software Communications Architecture Core Framework for a Digital Signal Processors PlatformWael A. Murtada, Mohamed M. Zahra, Magdi Fikri et al.Problem statement: The Software Communications Architecture (SCA) was developed to improve software reuse and interoperability in Software Defined Radios (SDR). There had been performance concerns since its conception. Arguably, the majority of the problems and inefficiencies associated with the SCA can be attributed to the assumption of modular distributed platforms relying on General Purpose Processors (GPPs) to perform all signal … …American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Vol. 4, Issue 3 · 29 Nov 2011 · 7,495 accessesView PDF Cite
