Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesAn Enhancement of Dyslexic Mobile Application using Sight Word Reading Strategy: Results and FindingsNoor Hazlini Borhan, Cheah Wai Shiang, Po-Chan Chiu et al.Dyslexia is an indicating term for learning disorder due to the difficulty in identifying speech and sound of letters and words, causing reading difficulty. Most children with dyslexia utilise the greater part of their senses to connect with their environment. One of the difficulties faced by dyslexic children is their troubles expressing their emotion or thought through verbal or written … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 14, Issue 7 · 28 May 2018 · 8,940 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesCollaborative Caching Architecture for Continuous Query in Mobile DatabaseMohamed Ahmed Elfaki, Hamidah Ibrahim, Ali Mamat, Mohamed OthmanProblem statement: Cooperative caching, which allows sharing and coordination of cached data among clients, is a potential technique to improve the data access performance and availability in mobile ad hoc networks. However, variable data sizes, frequent data updates, limited client resources, insufficient wireless bandwidth and client’s mobility make cache management faces many challenges. Approach: In this study, we propose a … …American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, Vol. 3, Issue 1 · 7 Jan 2011 · 8,882 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesA Firefly-Inspired Scheme for Energy-Efficient Transmission Scheduling Using a Self-Organizing Method in a Wireless Sensor NetworksZeyad Ghaleb Al-Mekhlafi, Zurina Mohd Hanapi, Mohamed Othman, Zuriati Ahmad ZukarnainVarious types of natural phenomena are regarded as primary sources of information for artificial occurrences that involve spontaneous synchronization. Among the artificial occurrences that mimic natural phenomena are Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and the Pulse Coupled Oscillator (PCO), which utilizes firefly synchronization for attracting mating partners. However, the PCO model was not appropriate for wireless sensor networks because sensor nodes … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 12, Issue 10 · 11 Dec 2016 · 7,715 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesComparative Study on Energy Efficient in Traveling Wave Pulse Coupled Oscillator for Wireless Sensor NetworksZeyad Ghaleb Al-Mekhlafi, Zurina Mohd Hanapi, Mohamed Othman, Zuriati Ahmad ZukarnainWSNs are unable to afford simultaneous transmission and reception of data and for most scenarios, the battery replacement is impossible upon the exhaustion of a node's battery energy. Thus, energy efficient protocols constitute vital design requirements for the WSN as a whole in order to increase the lifetime and ensure successful transmission of data from sensor node source to target, … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 13, Issue 11 · 21 Nov 2016 · 7,358 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesEnhanced Preemptive Global Utility Accrual Real Time Scheduling Algorithms in Multicore EnvironmentIdawaty Ahmad, Mohamed Othman, Zuriati Ahmad ZulkarnainThis paper proposed an efficient real time scheduling algorithm using global scheduling paradigm running in multicore environment known as Global Preemptive Utility Accrual Scheduling (GPUAS) algorithm. The existing TUF/UA multiprocessor scheduling algorithms known as Greedy-Global Utility Accrual (G-GUA) and Non Greedy-Global Utility Accrual (NG-GUA) algorithms is seen to overlook the efficiency on its task scheduling algorithm. These algorithms have adapted … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 12 · 11 Feb 2016 · 6,395 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesIntegration of Artificial Neural Network and Expert System for Material Classification of Natural Fibre Reinforced Polymer CompositesBasheer Ahmed Ahmed Ali, Mohd Sapuan Salit, Edi Syams Zainudin, Mohamed OthmanDiversified choice of materials from natural fibre reinforced polymer composites with similar properties complicate the materials selection for engineering products. Implementation of expert system alone makes it difficult to scrutinize the vast selected materials. Hybrid of expert system with neural network technology is desired. Classification of material through neural network under various criteria influences the decision in narrowing down the … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 12, Issue 3 · 29 Apr 2015 · 7,438 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the author namesRESOURCE BROKER MANAGEMENT BY ADOPTING SELF-ADAPTIVE MULTI-INSTANCE BROKER SCHEDULING IN GRID COMPUTINGBakri Yahaya, Rohaya Latip, Azizol Abdullah, Mohamed OthmanA grid resource broker seeks to assign the appropriate jobs to the appropriate resources as part of resource management in the multi-grid environment. Multi instances of the broker system provides multiple instances of brokers to simultaneously process jobs between multiple resources in a hierarchical cluster grid environment. In this study, the multi-instance broker is developed using grid resource broker taxonomy … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 29 Dec 2014 · 8,879 accessesView PDFCite
