Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAgricultural Mechanization in Niger: What Role do Animals Play?Warouma Arifa, Chaibou Mahamadou, Saley Adamou LaoualiThe intensification of agriculture through the use of animal energy has been used since colonial times. This study aims to analyze the level of mechanization in Niger while relying on the role played by animals used for farming in the regions of Maradi and Zinder (Niger Republic). Data collection was carried out between June and August 2020, using a questionnaire … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 19, Issue 1 · 7 Feb 2022 · 6,952 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleInvestigation and Situation of Timber Harvesting Mechanization of Turkey and the Usage of Tractors in Timber ExtractionMurat Demir, Tolga OzturkIn this study is to summarize usage of tractors in timber extraction and major problems of mechanized timber harvesting in Turkey. Timber harvesting in Turkey is still carried out by manual methods due to economical, social and environmental constraints. Almost 80% of harvesting activities are mechanized in many developed countries while this value is only 5% in Turkey. Overall ratio … …American Journal of Environmental Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2005 · 6,589 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSoil Compaction in Sugarcane Fields Induced by MechanizationPrathuang Usaborisut, Watcharachan SukcharoenvipharatProblem statement: Recently in Thailand, the problem of soil compaction, especially associated with more mechanized sugarcane production, has drawn attention from both the government and private sectors. Approach: To understand this problem, investigations of soil compaction using cone penetration resistance and bulk density were conducted in 16 sugarcane fields with 10 fields involving mechanized farming and 6 field's mainly manual … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 3 · 14 Sep 2011 · 8,406 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleOil Palm (Elaeis guineensis) Roots Response to Mechanization in Bernam Series SoilZuraidah Yahya, Aminuddin Husin, Jamal Talib et al.Problem statement: Field practices involving the use of mechanization in oil palm plantations could result in soil compaction which alters the soil physical properties. The gradual deterioration of soil physical conditions could restrict the growth and function of roots. This study was carried out to evaluate the response of oil palm roots to changes in soil physical properties due to … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 7, Issue 3 · 31 Mar 2010 · 8,774 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsOptimizing Pea Cultivation in Kazakhstan: Breeding Drought-Resistant Varieties for Sustainable AgricultureKudaibergenov Mukhtar Sarsenbekovich, Kanatkyzy Makpal, Saken Gaukhar Sakenkyzy et al.Peas (Pisum sativum L.) are a vital legume for global food security, yet its cultivation in Kazakhstan faces challenges due to arid conditions and limited moisture availability. Breeding high-yielding, stress resistant varieties is critical to enhance agricultural productivity in the region. This study aimed to develop pea varieties with improved yield, drought resistance, and mechanization adaptability under Kazakhstan's agroecological conditions. … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 25, Issue 3 · 25 Aug 2025 · 5,254 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsOn-board Computer Unit Development for Precision Fertilization in Oil Palm Plantations Based on Data from a Precision Agriculture PlatformIndra Permana Solihin, Kudang Boro Seminar et al.This study aims to develop the function of the On-Board Computer Unit (OBC) device to control the Variable-Rate Fertilizer Application (VRFA) device according to the recommendations of the precision agriculture platform for oil palm (Precipalm) platform integrated into the tractor system. Then, the operational movement of tractors integrated with VRFA is to be modeled using the Dead Reckoning (DR) algorithm … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 20, Issue 12 · 8 Nov 2024 · 5,596 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsPores Reconfiguration in Compacted Bernam Series SoilZuraidah Yahya, Aminuddin Husin, Jamal Talib et al.Problem statement: The introduction of mechanization in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) plantations resulted in soil compaction with increased bulk density and reduced porosity due to reconfiguration of soil pores. This could be a serious problem in the future as soil pores are important for aeration and water movement. Approach: This study was carried out to determine the effect of mechanization … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 8, Issue 3 · 25 Mar 2011 · 8,688 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAdaptation and Use of the Gangaria Seed Drill for the Improvement of Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) Cultivation in Niger: Case of the Maradi and Zinder RegionsAbdoulahi Mamane, Arifa Warouma et al.In Niger, peanut cultivation plays a significant role in food security and improving the incomes of rural households, particularly in the Maradi and Zinder regions. However, this crop remains hampered by low mechanization, the use of traditional tools, and inefficient fertilization, resulting in consistently low yields of around 600 to 800 kg/ha. Faced with these constraints, this study aims to … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 22, Issue 1 · 6 Feb 2026 · 2,843 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAnalysis and Synthesis of Mechanisms with Bars and Gears Used in Robots and ManipulatorsRelly Victoria Virgil Petrescu, Raffaella Aversa, Antonio Apicella et al.Bars and gears are used everywhere today, but a wide range of uses is robotics and mechatronics. Since ancient times, automations and mechanization have been used with mechanisms consisting of chains of bars and gears. These were obviously used for the purpose of transmitting the movement and its transformation, that is to say, as a mechanical transmission. Gear and bar … …Journal of Mechatronics and Robotics, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 20 Dec 2017 · 7,054 accessesView PDFCite
