Research ArticleOpen accessIn the keywordsEnhancing the Color Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Tree (SPIHT) Algorithm Using Correlation TheoryM. Santhi, R. S.D. Wahida BanuProblem statement: Efficient color image compression algorithm is essential for mass storage and the transmission of the image. The compression efficiency of the Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Tree (SPIHT) coding algorithm for color images is improved by using correlation theory. Approach: In this study the correlation between the color channels are used to propose the new algorithm. The correlation between … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 8 · 16 Jul 2011 · 6,617 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEnhancing Digital Images Through Cuckoo Search Algorithm in Combination with Morphological OperationK. Ratna Babu, K. V.N. SunithaThis study presents an image enhancement approach to Cuckoo Search Algorithmin with Morphological Operation. At the present time, in many image processing applications digital images are developed. Machine vision, computer interfaces, manufacturing, compression for storage and more are some of the fields of image processing application. Before using it in any applications the image has to be managed, such processing … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 10 Sep 2014 · 7,450 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractIMAGE COMPRESSION BASED ON SVD AND MPQ-BTCNidhal K. El Abbadi, Adil Al Rammahi, Dheiaa Shakir Redha, Mohammed Abdul-HameedIn this study we will provide a new way of images compression based on two mathematic concepts, these two concepts are Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Block Truncation Coding. The input image either is in JPEG format or in BMP format and the current way suitable for both color and gray scale images. The input image will be compressed first … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 10 · 30 Jun 2014 · 6,954 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractComparative Study of the Effect of Lossy and Lossless Block Based Binary Plane Techniques on Medical ImagesNalla Subhash Chandra, Mahaboob Basha Shaik, A. Govardhan, M. BalrajuProblem statement: The general and medical images in specific contain different regions holding information of different significances. To elaborate medical information, the doctor prefers to focus on certain selected region (s) of interest. So for medical images the diagnostically important regions must be preserved at high quality, whereas the rest of the image is required only in a contextual sense. … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 6, Issue 11 · 23 Oct 2010 · 7,380 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractBinary Merge Coding for Lossless Image Data CompressionN. Subhash Chandra, M. Bala Raju, M. Arya bahanu et al.Problem statement: Image processing applications were drastically increasing over the years. In such a scenario, the fact that, the digital images need huge amounts of disk space seems to be a crippling disadvantage during transmission and storage. So, there arises a need for data compression of images. Approach: This study proposed a novel technique called binary merge coding for lossless … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 5 · 30 May 2009 · 6,861 accessesView PDF Cite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImage Compression and Reconstruction using Cubic Spline Interpolation TechniqueR. Muthaiah, K. NeelaKantan, Vidur Sharma, Amit AroraA new dimension of image compression using random pixels of irregular sampling and image reconstruction using cubic-spline interpolation techniques proposed in this paper. It also covers the wide field of multimedia communication concerned with multimedia messaging (MMS) and image transfer through mobile phones and tried to find a mechanism to transfer images with minimum bandwidth requirement. This method would provide … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 5, Issue 11 · 30 Nov 2008 · 7,197 accessesView PDF Cite
