Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractCoverage Eligibility Rule based Coverage Maintenance Protocol for Energy Conservation in Wireless Sensor NetworksA. Balamurugan, T. PurushothamanProblem statement: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) comprise of small nodes with sensing, computation and wireless communication capabilities. Nodes in a sensor network are severely constrained by energy and computing power. Continuous working of sensor nodes leads to quick depletion of battery power and reduces the overall lifetime. To prolong the lifetime of the sensor nodes, efficient routing protocol that could … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 10 · 6 Aug 2011 · 6,634 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractConsistent and Proficient Algorithm for Data Gathering in Wireless Sensor NetworksP. Balamurugan, K. DuraiswamyProblem statement: A wireless sensor network is usually deployed in a harsh geographical area to gather data that can be delivered to the remotely located base station. Sensor nodes have irreplaceable energy source, limited computational capability and limited memory. It is a challenge to maximize the use of energy of these sensor nodes to extend the network lifetime. Approach: This … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 9 · 25 Jul 2011 · 6,737 accessesView PDFCite

Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImpact of Sybil and Wormhole Attacks in Location Based Geographic Multicast Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor NetworksShyamala Ramachandran, Valli ShanmuganProblem statement: Wireless sensor networks have been used in many applications, such as home automation, military surveillances and entity tracking systems. The sensor nodes have low computational capabilities and are highly resource constrained. Routing protocols of wireless sensor networks are prone to various routing attacks, such as black hole, rushing, wormhole, Sybil and denial of service attacks. Approach: The objective … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 7 · 28 Jun 2011 · 6,988 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAuthenticated Broadcast in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks using Chinese Remainder Theorem AlgorithmKalyani Palanisamy, ChellappanProblem statement: The security in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a critical issue due to the inherent limitations of computational capacity, storage capacity and power usage. Key management only makes sure the communicating nodes possess the necessary keys, at the same time protecting the confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of the communicated data. Approach: Proposed a RSA-CRT methodology for authenticated broadcast … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 6 · 14 Jun 2011 · 6,416 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMobile Element Scheduling for Efficient Data Collection in Wireless Sensor Networks: A SurveyK. Indra Gandhi, P. NarayanasamyProblem statement: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has become a very interesting field of research and has been deployed for various applications. The data sensed by the sensors need to be transmitted over to a Base Station (BS) where the data processing is done. Approach: The existing systems generally employ Multi-hop routing for data aggregation at the BS, where several nodes … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 7, Issue 1 · 15 Jan 2011 · 7,296 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractEnergy Efficient Hidden Markov Model Based Target Tracking Mechanism in Wireless Sensor NetworksB. Amutha, M. PonnavaikkoProblem statement: Target tracking is a challenging application in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) because it is computation-intensive and requires real-time location processing. This study proposes a practical target tracking system based on the Hidden Markov Model in a distributed signal processing framework. In this framework, wireless sensor nodes perform target detection and tracking, whereas target localization requires the collaborative signal … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 5, Issue 12 · 31 Dec 2009 · 7,177 accessesView PDFCite
