Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAuthentication Model Based Bluetooth-enabled Mobile PhoneRania Abdelhameed, Sabira Khatun, Borhanuddin Mohd Ali, Abdul Rahman RamliAuthentication is a mechanism to establish proof of identities, the authentication process ensure that who a particular user is. Current PC, laptop user authentication systems are always done once and hold until it explicitly revoked by the user, or asking the user to frequently reestablish his identity which encouraging him to disable authentication. Zero-Interaction Authentication (ZIA) provides solution to this … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2005 · 7,471 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractE-DemocracyKevin Curran, Eric NicholsDemocracy means majority rule. This raises some interesting questions. In a truly democratic society, when a majority of citizens vote for one candidate to govern them, then that person would be the elected governor of those people. Following this line of reasoning, if the majority of people do not vote for a leader, does democracy mean not having a leader? … …Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2005 · 7,066 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractExogenous Re-infection by Multiple Exposures to Mycobacterium tuberculosis Contributes to Subsequent Development of Active TuberculosisDiane J. Ordway, Miguel Viveiros, Fernando A. Ventura et al.The majority of tuberculosis (TB) exists in the world’s poorest countries, where costly biosafety level three facilities for containment of infectious TB patients and diagnostic facilities are not affordable. Health care workers (HCWs), in countries with high burdens of tuberculosis (TB) are at risk of nosocomially acquired TB, as there are increased numbers of cases of TB on open hospital … …American Journal of Immunology, Vol. 1, Issue 1 · 31 Mar 2005 · 6,967 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Role of Groundwater Vulnerability in Urban Development PlanningJ. Nouri, S. MalmasiGroundwater resources in most places of Iran are considered to be one of the important drinking water supplies for civilians. In city of Tehran, 25% of drinking water is being supplied from groundwater. This fact would enforce the requirement to protect and conserve groundwater resources in the city for its further development plan. Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Analysis of the Output and Employment Conversion Matrices of Australia's EconomyAbbas Valadkhani, Tim RobinsonBased on two snapshots taken from the Australian economy, this study quantifies the impacts of final demand aggregates on output and employment in various sectors using the 1989 and 1997 conversion matrices. The sectoral output and employment are linked with final demand deliveries in such a way that one can measure the impacts on changes in each component of aggregate … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 2 · 28 Feb 2005 · 6,750 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractThe Operational Features of Pumping Stations Equiped with Parallel-Connected Centrifugal Pumps for Land-ReclamationKhalid S. Al-RababaThe required water supply of a pump could be provided by means of different combinations of pressure piping and pumping units at different operational costs. The basic indices describing the operational modes for the individual and group pumping units, including the values of the efficiency, are computed. The adequacy of the calculational results that based on the developed mathematical models … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 1 · 31 Jan 2005 · 6,802 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractKey Success Factors of 3rd Generation Mobile Network Services for M-Commerce in MalaysiaSaravanan MuthaiyahWhile there has been a great deal of excitement in view of M-commerce, very little is actually known about conditions and critical success factors for successful introduction of the 3rd generation mobile network services here in Malaysia. This study investigates the factors for successful diffusion of 3G network services and their role in advancing an interactive marketplace. 3G which simply … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 4 · 31 Dec 2004 · 6,876 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSolving Linear Programming Problems on the Parallel Virtual Machine EnvironmentJrJung Lyu, Hsing Luh, Ming-Chang LeeThis study developed a parallel algorithm to efficiently solve linear programming models. The proposed algorithm utilizes the Dantzig-Wolfe Decomposition Principle and can be easily implemented in a general distributed computing environment. The analytical performance of the well-known method, including the speedup upper bound and lower bound limits, was derived. Numerical experiments are also provided in order to verify the complexity … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 1, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2004 · 7,837 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractImage Super-Resolution using Auto-Encoders with Parallel Skip-ConnectionsLisha Pulickal Purushothaman, Jayasree Vadakke KadangoteSuper-resolutionimages are highly desired when employed for numerous analytical purposes andobviously because of their superior attractive visual effect. To create aHigh-Resolution (HR) image from one or more Low-Resolution (LR) images, animage super-resolution technique is used. When dealing with naturalenvironments and settings, it is not always easy to access high-resolutionimages. The main barriers to the same are limitations in acquisition methods. In … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 18, Issue 11 · 11 Nov 2022 · 6,081 accessesView PDFCite
