Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractControl of Anthracnose Caused by Colletotrichum musae on Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep. Using Antagonistic Bacillus spp.Supuk Mahadtanapuk, Mondhon Sanguansermsri, Robert W. Cutler et al.Over 400 bacterial strains, isolated from leaf surfaces of Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep. and hot springs in the Chiang Mai province of northern Thailand, were screened in vitro for antagonistic activity against Colletotrichum musae, an anthracnose fungus. Three isolates provided greater than 75% growth inhibition of the fungus in vitro and were identified as Bacillus licheniformis, B. amyloliquefaciens and B. subtilis. … …American Journal of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Vol. 2, Issue 2 · 30 Jun 2007 · 9,005 accessesView PDFCite

CrowThe local population of Balochistan, Pakistan considers the Juniperus excelsa an important medicinal plant. The species is facing a grave threat by a parasitic and epiphytic angiosperm, dwarf mistletoe, Arceuthobium oxycedri (DC) M. Bieb (Viscaceae). The methanolic extract of A. oxycedri was studied for its chemical composition and biologically active compounds for the first time. The extract was assayed for … …OnLine Journal of Biological Sciences, Vol. 6, Issue 2 · 31 Dec 2006 · 7,001 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessAll words, across the recordAntimicrobial and Antioxidant Activities of Bacterial Extracts from Marine Bacteria Associated with Sponge Stylotella sp.Daning Yoghiapiscessa, Irmanida Batubara, Aris Tri WahyudiSponge-associated bacteria have great potential in developing marine pharmaceutical industry since they are capable of synthesizing numerous bioactive metabolite compounds. This study aimed to isolate, characterize and investigate potential antimicrobial, toxicity and antioxidant of bioactive compounds of bacteria associated with sponge Stylotella sp. A total of 138 bacteria were selected. During screening stage, 45 isolates (32%) produced a wide spectrum … …American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Vol. 12, Issue 1 · 22 Feb 2016 · 9,154 accessesView PDFCite
