Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleA NOVEL HYBRID NODE LOCALIZATION ALGORITHM FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKSLiu Yu, Wang Haipeng, He You, Shen JianNode self-localization is one of the supporting technologies in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In this study, a distributed hybrid localization algorithm based on divide-and-conquer and refinement method is proposed. Firstly, the effect of ranging error in the Received Signal Strength (RSS) model on node localization is analyzed and the topology relations of anchors and unknown nodes are derived when the … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 25 Nov 2013 · 6,878 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleAdvanced Energy Efficient Passive Clustering Mobility in Wireless Sensor NetworksAouad Siham, Maach Abdelillah, El Ganami DrissWireless sensor networks have a wide applicability and increase deployment in the near future. In most of those applications, the network is composed of an important number of nodes deployed in an extensive area in which not all nodes are directly connected and based on clustering techniques. The Clustering can considerably reduce transmission overhead during flooding. In fact, by using … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 24 Oct 2013 · 6,756 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleReceived Signal Strength Indication Modeling in Indoor Wireless Sensor NetworksEdson Taira Procopio, Alexandre de Assis Mota, Lia Toledo Moreira Mota, Luiz Rodolfo Barreto da SilvaThis study aims to identify mathematical models that represent the relation between Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and objects in an indoor Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Using the Least Squares Method, four linear models have been identified: The first one relates uplink RSSI and objects; the second one relates downlink RSSI and objects; the third one relates uplink RSSI and … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 10, Issue 9 · 24 Aug 2013 · 6,863 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleSECRET HANDSHAKE ISSUE AND VALIDATE AUTHORITY BASED AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKKamalanaban Ethala, R. Seshadri, N. G. Renganathan, M. S. SaravananWireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are major research area in the past few decades. WSN is formed by collection of sensor nodes. Power source life and memory size limit the hardware sources and these will decide the lifesapn of sensor nodes in WSN. Therefore, many resources based research issues are evolved in WSN. This study focused security issue and proposed authentication … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 9 · 6 Aug 2013 · 6,429 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePredicting Battery Charge Depletion in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Received Signal Strength IndicatorInacio Henrique Yano, Vitor ChavesDe Oliveira, Eric Alberto de Mello Fagotto et al.This article aims to identify an adequate mathematical model to predict battery power depletion at the nodes of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), by analyzing the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). Six general models were tested, the simplest Average model, Linear Regression model, Autoregressive (AR) models and Autoregressive Moving Average (ARMA) models. The selected model (AR) presented a low absolute mean … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 7 · 12 Jun 2013 · 7,239 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleEvaluation Metrics for Wireless Sensor Network Security: Algorithms Review and Software ToolQasem Abu Al-Haija, Mohamed H. Shwehdi, Muhammad BanatWireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is currently receiving a significant attention due to their potential impact into several real life applications such as military and home automation technology. The work in this study is a complementary part of what’s discussed. In this study, we propose a software tool to simulate and evaluate the six evaluation metrics presented for non-deterministic wireless sensor … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 5 · 27 May 2013 · 7,348 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titlePriority Based Congestion Detection and Avoidance in Wireless Sensor NetworksR. Beulah Jayakumari, V. Jawahar SenthilkumarThe primary objective of event driven wireless sensor networks is to route the detected or monitored data at the earliest to the base station depending on their degree of priority since the data generated in a sensor network has different importance. In order to avoid indiscriminate dropping of data during congestion we propose a novel congestion protocol named priority based … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 9, Issue 3 · 26 Apr 2013 · 6,732 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessEvery word in the titleCluster Based Time Division Multiple Access Scheduling Scheme for Zigbee Wireless Sensor NetworksB. Meenakshi, P. AnandhakumarIn IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee Wireless Sensor Networks, an efficient scheduling mechanism is required for reliable data transmission. Further, concurrent transmission of huge data through CSMA/CA incurs more packet collision rate. This complicated condition has to be eliminated to improve the system throughput. In this study, we propose to deploy cluster based TDMA scheduling mechanism for IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee Wireless Sensor … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 26 Nov 2012 · 6,682 accessesView PDFCite
