EditorialOpen accessIn the abstractData Mining in Time Series: Current Study and Future TrendTan Yan, Liudmila Ulanova, Ye Ouyang, Fengyuan XuTime series represent sequences of data points where usually their order is defined by the time when they were recorded. Thus, virtually any sequential recordings can be stored as time series: Stock prices, weather conditions, physical system parameters change, product quality monitoring, etc. This leads to ubiquity of time series in all scientific and practical fields (Esling and Agon, 2012); … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 12 · 26 Jan 2015 · 8,762 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractAn Efficient Denoising Algorithm for Impulse Noise RemovalA. Rajamani, V. KrishnaveniNow-a-days the images acquired by the digital cameras and defective sensors tend to introduce noises during either image acquisition or transmission process. The quality of the image is degraded in a significant measure. Lot of research works was carried out for several decades to denoise the impulse noise and each approach has its own merits and demerits. This study deals … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 11, Issue 1 · 10 Sep 2014 · 6,820 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractPERFORMANCE OF TRANSMISSION CONTROL PROTOCOL CONGESTIONCONTROL ALGORITHMS ON TELEDESIC SATELLITES CONSTELLATIONSM. Nirmala, Ramachandra V. PujeriSatellite networking is different from wired or wireless networks. TCP/IP performance and behavior with respect to normal wireless network and wired networks are different from one another. As the architecture of TCP/IP protocol was not designed to perform well over high-latency or noisy channels and so its performance over satellite networks are totally different. The properties of satellite constellations such … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 8 · 22 Feb 2014 · 7,050 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractSTRESS; THE VULNERABILITY AND ASSOCIATION WITH DRIVING PERFORMANCEB. M.T. Shamsul, S. Khairunnisa, Y. G. Ng, M. Y. Irwan SyahSeveral factors may contribute to occurrence of road accidents which are human factors, vehicle factor, road factor and environmental factor. There has been recent evidence of a relationship between road accidents and emotional distress as well as fatigue. Monotonous and complex road environments are the road factor that relates to the internal factor within driver. The overall aim of this … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, Issue 3 · 11 Jan 2014 · 7,720 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractENERGY EFFICIENT AND INTERFERENCE AWARE PROVISIONING IN VIRTUALIZED SERVER CLUSTER ENVIRONMENTMohan Raj Velayudhan Kumar, Shriram RaghunathanIT service providers, employ server virtualization as a main building block to improve system utilization, improve system manageability, reduce operational costs which includes energy consumption driving economies of scale with shared resources. Virtualization enables co-locating and efficient assignments of virtual servers within the bounds of limited number of heterogeneous physical servers, with Virtual Machines (VM) sharing the limited physical server … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 10, Issue 1 · 12 Nov 2013 · 6,696 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractWeb Document Segmentation Using Frequent Term Sets for SummarizationChitra Pasupathi, Baskaran Ramachandran, Sarukesi KarunakaranQuery sensitive summarization aims at extracting the query relevant contents from web documents. Web page segmentation focuses on reducing the run time overhead of the summarization systems by grouping the related contents of a web page into segments. At query time, query relevant segments of the web page are identified and important sentences from these segments are extracted to compose … …Journal of Computer Science, Vol. 8, Issue 12 · 19 Dec 2012 · 6,675 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractMeasuring the Operating Efficiency of Solar Cell Companies in Taiwan with Data Envelopment AnalysisJui-Min HsiaoThis study discusses the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach to measure the operating efficiency of solar cell companies. With active and constructive advancement of the government, competition in the solar cell industry became even tenser. When drawing up the competitive strategies, one firm should identify the key indicators of its operating efficiency. This study incorporates three inputs (the number of … …American Journal of Applied Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 12 · 7 Nov 2012 · 6,923 accessesView PDFCite
Research ArticleOpen accessIn the abstractOptimization Techniques To Record DeduplicationDeepa Karunakaran, Rangarajan RangaswamyDuplicate record detection is important for data preprocessing and cleaning. Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) is one of the most recently introduced algorithms based on the intelligent foraging behavior of a honey bee swarm. Our approach to duplicate detection is the use of ABC algorithm for generating the optimal similarity measure to decide whether the data is duplicate or not.
